Daily Inspiration: Meet Rini K

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rini K

Hi Rini, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story begins in the attic of my childhood home in North Carolina, where I started writing and producing my own songs in middle school. This passion eventually led to the independent release of my first album in 2020. I continued to release music and began posting on TikTok in 2021, where I started to build my fanbase, the “Riniacs.” That year, I also began collaborating with other artists, helping me discover my true identity as an artist.

I released singles from my latest EP, “Not So Teenage Dream,” while expanding “Riniacland” to YouTube and Instagram. 2024 was a big year for me, with several of my series going viral across all platforms. In addition to my own music, I co-wrote tracks for other artists, including Haley Faye Rosenthal’s EP, “My Ghost.” Our collaboration evolved into a partnership, leading to the launch of our podcast, “Sick and Serving,” following the release of our single, “Pick Axe.”

Amid the whirlwind of my music career, I also ventured into acting in 2023, starring in award-winning short films like “Q” directed by Iñaki Herrera and “Dragons and High Schoolers” directed by Annabella Vaca. Currently, I’m preparing to roll out my next EP and filming “Butterfly Refuge,” directed by Nathaniel Brown.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been defined by resilience. My battles with physical and mental health have deeply influenced my music. In 2021, I developed a debilitating chronic illness that doctors struggled to properly diagnose. That same year, I faced intense online harassment that was overwhelming for me at just 16, leading to deep depression and severe anxiety.

Yet, despite the darkness of 2021, I discovered a strength I didn’t know I had. Now, I channel that strength into my music, hoping to inspire others who may be going through similar struggles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m most proud of the community my fans and I have built together. Our little corner of the internet is so beautiful! I feel a genuine connection with many of them beyond the typical artist-fan dynamic, and it brings me comfort to know exactly who I’m speaking to through my music.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I absolutely adore the music community in Dallas! It was the bridge between my hometown and LA, where I truly laid the foundations for my music career. Organizations like “The Love Mic” and “The Creatives Factory” are filled with amazing people I deeply admire. This community provided me with a safe space to explore my artistry and helped me become the best version of myself before making the leap to LA.
