Today we’d like to introduce you to Remi Harris.
Hi Remi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 2012 when I was going to The Art Institute for graphic and web design. I had to take photography and videography classes and that’s when I started picking up the camera and getting creative. Photo and video was way more interesting than coding and building websites. As the years went on I started networking with different models and music artists to help film music videos. I then transitioned to working with small business owners and going to networking events around Chicago. I’ve met tons of people in Chicago but it wasn’t until I met the wonderful woman in my life that I made the decision to move to LA and expand here. So far I’ve met and shot with cool people like Laurel DeWitt, Roberto Valenzuela, LSC Styling, Peter Hurley, Montana Tucker and Qimmah Russo and many more to come I’m sure.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, this road is never smooth. Some struggles that can come about are things like people not taking you seriously or even respecting your time. My biggest pet peeve is when people try to pay in “exposure”. I understand that the normal person really doesn’t understand what it takes to run a photography business but there’s a lot of hard work and sleepless nights that goes into it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer and videographer. I specialize in portraits and lifestyle types of work and have been recently leaning more towards fashion. I’m known for being a comedian on set. Anytime I do a shoot it’s a guarantee that I’ll have the client cracking up at some point. I also bring great positive energy and good music to set the tone right. I’m most proud of the fact that I haven’t given up on myself throughout the years. What sets me apart from everyone else is the experience that you get when working with me. My goal is to make sure that when you leave that you don’t forget about the time you had.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an athletic kid always on the move. At first, I was a bit of a loner but when I joined the school’s basketball team everything changed including my height. In 7th grade, I was 6ft tall so I started to attract attention because of it.
