Daily Inspiration: Meet Reinhardt Kenneth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reinhardt Kenneth.

Hi Reinhardt, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m an LA-based Indonesian Fashion & Celebrity Photographer. My journey started around ten years ago when I was 14 and picked up the camera. Little did I know, photography was going to change my life. I was discovered by the late Franca Sozzani (ex-EIC of Vogue Italia) and was featured in the likes of Vogue Italia, The Louvre & Art Basel Miami not long after that and have shot for multiple magazine covers featuring some of the finest celebrities in the industry I moved to LA when I was 19, 4 years ago – with a dream to create art that’s not just beautiful, but particularly powerful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course not. I don’t think anything ever goes according to plan in life. Leaving a very sheltered life in Indonesia was harder than expected. I had to grow up faster than most people I grew up with and truly learn what it means to genuinely be an artist with a purpose. I guess one important thing I’ve learned this year was that kindness prevails all. While sometimes you have to cut out the toxic out of your life, there’s no reason to not be kind.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I shoot fashion and celebrity, but particularly in a style that’s different than most. I like to visualize my muses in a transcendent and divine light. I love telling stories through my art. This year, however, I truly have found my purpose through my art, and that is to have a voice in the industry. While visualizations have always been my “language”, I’ve utilized my talent to speak about current world tragedies and issues. I did a controversial but powerful shoot called “Hate is A Virus” about anti-xenophobia towards Asians all around the world due to Covid-19 and “2020: The Year of Hope”, a story about a diverse group of girls coming together in times of adversity, as they find hope through unity. I truly believe that art is a universal language – an expressive way to tell stories and share a message.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Honestly, I’m pretty simple. I need Adobe Photoshop for obvious reasons A good Spotify playlist (find In Reinhardt’s Movie on Spotify) because I believe in sound as a true meditative, powerful form & to be honest, a time off from all the “apps”, because we should all honor our temple
