Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Rollins-Garcia.
Hi Rebecca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from FIDM (Fashion institute of design and merchandising) with a degree in Interior Design. I have had a passion for all things interior design as far as I can remember. After graduation, I worked for a high-end furniture manufacturer in Los Angeles. From there I knew my ultimate goal was to open my own interior design firm.
In 2010 I ventured out and opened the doors of Rebecca Rollins Interiors (RRI). We specialize in residential interior design and have worked with over 200 families transforming their homes over the last 12 years. Crazy to think it’s already been 12 years! Our flagship office is in Valencia CA and my hometown.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I look back, it feels like a very smooth ride! I have worked extremely hard to insure my clients have the best experience, but no business is perfect, and every business has its struggles! It’s how you as a business learn and grow! Perfecting our behind the scene systems so our clients have the most tailored experience with RRI is what I am always looking at. Every project and every job (no matter the size) we learn something from. COVID has changed our industry drastically with lead times on products & materials, and even contractors.
So I would say in the last 2 years the biggest struggle has been meeting our client deadlines. I always make sure the deadlines clients give are realistic, to begin with, and communication along the way about where their project stands with that deadline is imperative. We have learned to adapt and have had to change the way we work a bit to make sure projects are not delayed due to material not being available.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a high-end residential interior design firm that specializes in a Refined California Casual style. We are known for our use of neutral colors, natural materials, and layers of beauty. We love to push the envelope with projects and pull people out of their comfort zone. Our style has a very distinctive look and I am proud of the years of work it took to master that. However, we are always evolving and trying something new to keep projects differ from one another. I am most proud of my team of designers that help create these beautiful spaces. There are only 3 of us but man do we create some swoon-worthy homes!
Our biggest project designed from top to bottom was an 8000-square-foot house with 7 bathrooms. This home was taken down to the studs and rebuilt in 4 months short months and each space designed is perfection! My ability to listen and understand one’s wants and needs and create a functional yet beautiful space is what sets me apart from everyone else. When I leave a project at the very end, my clients not only have a beautifully designed space, they have a space that is more functional for their everyday living, and in the end, creates less everyday stress for them. It really is the best of both worlds. And I really am a miracle worker!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is spending every summer camping at the beach with my parents and brother. We were both able to bring a friend and we would spend our days in the ocean, boogie boarding, riding bikes around the campground, and BBQing. And when I say camping, I mean legit tent camping!
My dad would get up super early to get down to the beach to get the best oceanfront camping spot for us and we would spend a week on the ocean. I gotta give my mom major credit…that is A LOT of work with 4 kids! HA.
