Daily Inspiration: Meet Morgan Hughes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Hughes.

Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a black woman content creator, it was hard finding events that I felt really catered to us. Also being an LA transplant definitely played a huge role in many decisions I’ve made. So instead of complaining about lack of, I created the change I wanted to see, and that is how The Takeoff was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the road has been smooth. I think because I was so passionate about my idea, I was very careful in planning. From finding the right venues, budgets and even reaching out to other creators was well thought out and executed. I made sure I asked a ton of questions and even hired a marketing/business manager (shout out to you Maya!) to assist in making sure things made sense. I took my time making sure I curated experiences that I would be proud of.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a solo world traveler and event curator. Literally when anyone meets me for the first time, whether it’s with friends or not “You’re the girl that’s always traveling!” comes up. What sets me apart from others is simple, I am me. There is no one like me. My experiences are very unique to me. I’m most proud of watching my ideas come to life. The Takeoff has granted me and others a community that is so nurturing and supportive. If I have a feeling about achieving anything, best believe I will act on it and make it happen.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Even though this word oftentimes is associated with negative connotations, I accept it. I think being stubborn plays a huge part in my success. I’m so headstrong, and in my mind, there is nothing that can stop me from doing something that I believe so strongly in. No doesn’t exist to me, there is always a solution.
