Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryanne Owen
Hi MaryAnne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In October of 2021, I found myself at a major crossroads. I was living on the east coast in the Charlotte area. I had a good life, good job, good family, lived in a good neighborhood. Life was good, but not extraordinary. When the world shut down due to covid in 2020, I hit a major depressive cycle. I started therapy and realized I was unhappy. You know that feeling where you know you are meant for more? That was what I was dealing with along with other issues. The world was dealing with the aftermath and tremendous loss due to Covid, I was headed towards divorce after 16 years of marriage and I was denied a promotion on a job I had been working for 7 years. When I arrived at the crossroads, I thought ‘well now what?” What am I going to do now? I felt like I reached a glass ceiling at my job and I my marriage was done. Do I rebuild again here or do I try something different? I received an invitation from my family to consider moving to California. I had visited many times and loved it. I thought why not? I took a major leap of faith and moved to sunny California. I started doing contract/freelance marketing/graphic design work. While I was at an event for one of my contract jobs, I met someone that offered me an amazing opportunity in financial services. This opportunity allowed me to share amazing information with families on how to better save and protect their assets. It opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me and my son. We were able to meet so many great people and travel to beautiful places while helping others. It has been a fantastic journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While the opportunity has been amazing, it hasn’t been without its challenges—missed opportunities, being ghosted, losing some friends, and dealing with miscommunications, to name a few. The biggest struggle, however, was with my self-image and self-esteem. Could I really be successful? Is this the right path for me? Can I do this? As an entrepreneur, you face more than your fair share of rejection. You have to dig deep to keep going and not take it personally. It’s essential to always remember your “why” because it will carry you through the tough times. Additionally, understanding that business has its ebbs and flows is crucial. There will be times when you’re red hot and others when you’re arctic cold, periods of plenty, and times of scarcity. To reach your season of success, you must endure through all the seasons at the beginning.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love the Motivation App. It sends inspiring messages at just the right time. I also enjoy Straight Line Thinkers app by Rich Thawley. He is a pioneer in World Financial Group. He and his wife, Cindy, love to share their wisdom and life lessons. I listen to a lot of audio books: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Happy and Strong by Jamie Villalovos, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I have a lot of books… I like to collect them but I haven’t read all of them! The last one that I read cover to cover was The Circle of Fire by Don Miguel Ruiz. I have read several leadership books from John Maxwell and Simon Sinek. What has been helping me as of late is Les Brown. I listen to his motivational speeches on YouTube at least once per day. Amazing motivational speaker. It is so funny, I remember my grandparents used to listen to him when I was a little girl. Now I am listening to him as an adult and his message is still so powerful.
