Daily Inspiration: Meet Mark David Christenson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark David Christenson.

It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in Sandy, Utah and began acting in 8th Grade. I fell in love with it and eventually acted in the Mormon feature film The RM then took a break to attend film school at the University of Utah and in my final year, I was asked to star in a classmate’s director project and that small role sparked the acting bug again.

I started auditioning more in Utah as well as starring in plays. After landing a super fun role in the indie darling White on Rice, I moved to Los Angeles California. In LA, along with continuing to train as an actor, I discovered improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre which took over my life for several years. My love for improv comedy lead to me being a featured performer on a Maude (sketch) and Harold (improv) team, co-creating an indie improv show that ran for five years, starring in a viral video faking to win an Oscar, and meeting my wife, we celebrated our one-year anniversary this past October.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
After having a year of bookings followed by zero bookings and being cut from my UCB house teams, I found myself struggling to overcome my own lack of confidence and a need to stop living in past successes. In order to refocus and reassess my work and love for the craft of acting, I returned to training as an actor with the John Rosenfeld Studio and began collaborating with friends to write and produce our own material.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m proud of the high energy that I bring to everything I contribute to. Whether I’m acting, writing, directing, podcasting I offer my full focused energy.

I co-host/produce a podcast dedicated to talking about my favorite comic book character Hellboy, began co-producing short film productions, recently booked a role on the tabletop web series Novel Chronicles, and kicked off a club dedicated to eating one burger a month.

How do you think about happiness?
My wife is one the funniest people alive and nothing makes me happier when I make her laugh. She makes me laugh all the time so when I get her to really laugh hard, I never feel happier.

Also, cuddling with my little dog makes me happy.
