Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Aguilar.
Hi Linda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Linda. I grew up in Vista, California, where I grew up with with my family that brought some amazing strains to San Diego during this time went to school at Fashion Careers of California down in San Diego to get my degree in fashion merchandising. In 2008 moved to the Valley and than moved I lived to Highland Park in LA. I owned a vintage clothing line called Unique Custom Clothing and spent time working at Mi Vida Loca with Anita Acosta. While I was living in LA, I also became a Reiki healer master practitioner. Later on, I brought that right into the cannabis world by creating cannabis bath soaks as a complementary treatment. It was all about promoting the message of choosing pot over pills. Around that same time, I was also trimming and helping out with cultivation on cannabis farms out in the San Fernando Valley.
By 2015, I wanted to create a more casual clothing line. Hanging out with my brothers and cousins all the time, I was just so used to what was out there. No offense to anyone, but if there were options, it was always just weed leaves right on the boobs. There’s a time and place for everything, you know? I just wanted something stylish. I wanted to design clothes that felt like the Quiksilver, Stüssy, Jimmy Z, and summer streetwear I grew up with in Southern California back in the ’90s. Growing up, I was completely surrounded by a mix of surf, skate, punk, golden era hip-hop, reggae, boho, and vintage styles. I wanted to bring that exact vibe to the cannabis community so there were actual options to choose from . This is why I created Ganja Chica Clothing 2015. Over the years, we’ve worked countless events—from early-day gatherings like Trapathon, Dabathon, and Kushstock to the San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market, which turned into the Farmers Cup. In 2018, I started working as a budtender in Long Beach, and from there I took on all kinds of roles across the community, like watering clones all around LA, Orange County, and even all the way out to Palm Springs, and being a brand ambassador for various different brands in the cannabis industry .
Along the way, I’ve been so blown away and honored by the recognition. I was nominated in 2016 as one of High Times Women, recognized as a Mary Jane Magazine Power Player in 2021, and won third place for the Green State Consumer Awards in 2025. At the California Cannabis and Music Awards, I won third place for Best Clothing Company and took home 2 place for Activist in 2023, followed by winning Best Clothing Company in 2024. I’ve also been nominated for and the Budtender Awards in 2021
Beyond fashion, we’ve always loved throwing our own fun gatherings instead of just standard industry events—like our Mary Jane’s Beauty Bar and the “Smoke and Travel” takeover at a Desert Hot Springs hotel.
Then in 2025, to celebrate Ganja Chica’s ten-year anniversary, I launched The High Chronicles. The whole mission behind it is simple: breaking the stoner dress stigma, educating folks on choosing pot over pills, and shining a light on all the incredible people holding down the industry—from the budtenders and sales reps to the influencers and creators—along with the California brands truly worth supporting.
I came up before Prop 64, back during Prop 215, so I’ve watched us start to lose a little bit of that original magic. Keeping our culture alive means everything to me. Looking ahead, I am so excited on what’s happening right now, like teaming up with Latinas in Cannabis for a fashion show ahead of their summit, and heading out to the Farmers Cup 710 edition in San Diego to debut our brand new fall collection and catch up with all our people. This weekend
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There only problem was getting shadow banned on social media platforms and getting kick off Tik Tok
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am proud on this whole journey and getting where I am and ability to still be in the cannabis community/ Industry . What sets me apart from others tell me, me just being me
How do you think about happiness?
My family, my friends, my community, fashion, music & weed and helping others Why Its everything I love.
