Daily Inspiration: Meet Leah Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Rose.

Hi Leah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a kid, I was a big ham. I often found myself on stage. Whether it was dancing, singing or a combination of both, performance allowed me to release that energy. I found acting in high school and when it came to choose a major in college, it was an obvious choice. After getting my BFA, I moved to Chicago to start my acting career. It was all about theater until I got the “survivor girl” role in a Sci-Fi creature feature. HELL’S LABYRINTH started to gain a small cult following and with that, I decided to move to LA to pursue TV and film. Since then, I have appeared in numerous indie films, TV shows, web series and over 20 commercials. You might recognize me from viral videos for FunnyOrDie and BuzzFeed or from when I performed live alongside Jack Black and Kyle Gass (Tenacious D) at their Festival Supreme comedy and music festivals. Recently, I co-hosted the wildly wacky dating game show “What’s In My Pocket.” 2020 was my busiest year yet, which is just unbelievable considering all the challenges due to the pandemic. I managed to book more projects last year than any other and am extremely grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I moved to LA, I thought I could just hit the ground running. I soon discovered it would take a while to find representation, get my bearings and pay rent. I’ve had just about every survival job there is including making giant soap bubbles for children’s birthday parties and hosting open houses in “up and coming” neighborhoods. There were a few years where I didn’t really do much auditioning or acting at all because I was consumed by a marketing job that monopolized my time but made me a pretty good living. I was making a good steady income, the likes of which I’d never seen before. But after almost three years of that, I finally snapped out of it realizing my soul was being crushed. I quit that job and reprioritized my life to get back into my acting career and a happier path. All along, my husband has been a consistent source of encouragement and support. I’m sure I wouldn’t be where I am without him as my loving cheerleader.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor who tends to be drawn to comedy and horror/sci-fi. I’m most proud of working with the incomparable Jack Black.

What matters most to you?
My priorities have shifted over the last couple of years. I understand that happiness comes from within. I don’t have to wait for career wins to bring me happiness. My worth is not contingent on my ability get work. I can find joy and contentment in the things I already have. That realization helped me understand that my health and my family matters most.
