Daily Inspiration: Meet Laura Auer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Auer.

Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Currently touring with operatic tenor John Riesen with our new classical crossover duo show, Aria Nouveau. It all started when I asked him to collaborate on a song called “Stranger in Paradise” for my album Summer and we enjoyed singing and working together so we decided to build a live touring show!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Struggles? Always. Otherwise would it even be fun? I’ve only ever planned a tour for myself before, and this time I had to learn how to book a tour with three individuals on the road for nearly a month long. Hertz could have made my life a little easier if they just picked up the phone 🙂 But yes, learning to coordinate between artists, venues, agents, promoters, and audiences has been a wonderful challenge as a producer.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a classically trained soprano but spent most of my career singing popular styles so now I sing both, and absolutely love sharing classical music whenever I can. I call my style a form of “bel canto” which is a lighter, softer, lyrical style of singing with an element of pop style in my delivery of a melody. What sets me apart? I believe that’s hard to find true operatic singers that can authentically “cross over” and go back and forth… very difficult. I somehow figured out how to adjust my throat to do both!

What’s next?
Right now we are getting ready to perform a series of concerts from New Years Eve through January 4th at the Maltz Theater in Jupiter Florida (West Palm Beach area) and we are so excited to feature a full string quartet, piano, and guitar with us on stage!! Then we will go back out on a Midwest tour in February.
