Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Wilson.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised by my grandmother in a small town called Hopkins, SC because both my parents left. I used the bathroom on a pail (Bucket). The use of the bucket brought on emotional turmoil inside the ten year old little girl who is me leaving her to battle with anxiety, depression, and loneliness. That didn’t come from using the bucket but, from the confusion of why I was using the bucket. Those experiences led to what I now call the (Pail Experience) which is a state of disconnect. A place of pain, disconnect and loneliness, a place where you don’t feel fufilled something is missing. You feel incomplete. It can come from divorce, bad relationships childhood trauma or anything that makes you feel unfulfilled. I started taking classes at a technical college right after high school to be a nursing assistant, phlebotomist and then a medical assistant. I said to myself if you’re going to do it do it. That’s when I started to study nursing. From there I knew that I wanted to take things to greater level. So, today I am a nurse, owner of a very successful health care company, an international speaker(Canada) and a self-improvement expert.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It was not a smooth road. I ran into not having gas money to get to school traveling at night through KKK territory which I was scared to death of. Traveling through stormy weather not being able to see the road in front of me just going on instinct alone to get home and to school safely. Most of all passing those classes. It was not easy at all little rest or food consumption. Struggling to pass the 6 classes I had to pass each semester because I had tests every week. It was just constant study no free time at all. Not to mention being a mom.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a nurse and the owner and operator of a multi-six figure home health agency. I graduated from nursing school year 2016. I specialize in (Geriatrics) the care of the elderly. I also work with retired and injured veterans through the daily operating of my home health agency along with my daughter. I’m known for being attentive, hardworking, caring, and very compassionate. I’m most proud of being able to get to a place of peace. A place where I feel complete and whole by pouring my compassion and love out into others and seeing the results of healing. I would say the extra effort I put in to make sure that clients are treated as if they were my own loved ones. The extra calls for their birthdays, holidays, and just to say thank you for choosing me for your care.
What does success mean to you?
To me, success is being happy with your accomplishments not feeling like it’s a job but the satisfaction in your job. Feeling complete. Being impactful and seeing the results.
