Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiarash Naderi.

Kiarash Naderi

Hi Kiarash, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey started when I moved to Dubai with my family when I was only 10 years old. At an early age, things got dark, and I began to look for the deepest darkness within the people because I had just discovered my own darknesses. With my interest in movies, especially horror genre, the passion to capture photos that show a dark side grew stronger. This is how my journey began.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe the road is never smooth for anybody because if your journey was without any obstacles, you wouldn’t have any stories to tell. The biggest struggles for me were always trying to find my place and my people, as I always felt like I don’t belong.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’d like to think the stories behind my photos are what could set me apart. Whether it’s a street photography or a staged fine art, there will always be a story behind it. I have started a new trend which is called The Anonymous Tale, that tells the story of strangers that you meet and capture on the street. You will never see them again, but they will forever be a part of the story you’re telling.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being able to sit back and tell the story of your life and how you got to where you are without having to cut any of the hardships out of it. A successful person would proudly talk about all the mistakes he or she has made in the past and point out how they were the domino that got them to where they are now.
