Daily Inspiration: Meet Kenya Tovar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Tovar.

Hi Kenya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Kenya Tovar, a 24-year-old girl who was born and raised in Mexico City. I moved to the U.S., before the pandemic to learn about the U.S. culture, study and pursue my dreams. I did not fully know the language, the culture, or how the system worked. It was definitely a challenge at first, but I was determined to make it work. I pushed through the struggles of adapting, learning, and building a life from the ground up.

Despite the obstacles, I earned a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. That education, combined with my passion and drive, helped me launch my own social media marketing business recently. I wanted to create something of my own—something that allowed me to be creative and help businesses grow. My first client reached 100K followers on TikTok within the first 9 months helping the community in his niche.

Along the way, I also embraced my creative side and began modeling, acting and creating content in social media. What started as a side passion grew into another part of my career. Today, I balance being a business owner, model, and content creator—living proof that you do not need to have everything figured out at the beginning. You just need to believe in yourself, keep showing up, and never stop growing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Moving to a new country as a teen, without 100% mastering the culture, language and system was challenging. Every single day, I had to constantly push myself to learn, to communicate, and to adapt in situations where normally I would feel confident in doing like interacting with friends and having a community as I was used to, especially since the U.S. is a cold culture country compared to Mexico. Coming from Mexico, where the culture is very warm, open, and family-oriented, the U.S. felt much more individualistic and reserved—what some might call a “colder” culture. It was tough adjusting to that emotional distance, especially when I was used to such a strong sense of community back home. There were moments of doubt, culture shock, and even loneliness, especially in the beginning. But those struggles made me stronger, confident, more resilient, more self-aware, and allowed me to connect with my inner self.

Starting my business wasn’t necessarily a struggle—it was more of a learning curve. I had the passion and the vision, but I had to quickly get familiar with the legal side of things, understand how to manage clients effectively, and learn how to balance my time as an entrepreneur. Those were the areas that really pushed me to grow and level up professionally.

Content creation and modeling came along the way, kind of naturally. As I built my business and put myself out there more, opportunities started opening up. What began as a creative outlet turned into a real part of my career—and now it’s something I’m actively growing alongside my business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run my own marketing business, where I specialize in branding, social media strategy, and content development. I love helping businesses and entrepreneurs bring their vision to life in a way that feels true to who they are.

Alongside that, I’m also a model and content creator. I’ve had the opportunity to work with different brands and express myself creatively through fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content. But beyond the aesthetics, what truly drives me is the message I get to share—especially with young women from Mexico, or anyone coming from a different country, trying to make it in a new world.

I want people—especially young people like me, who come from where I come from—to know that it’s possible. That you can chase your dreams, build your own business, express yourself, and create the life you want if you focus and vibrate high, even when you’re starting from scratch. I’m most proud of becoming that example and using my platform to inspire and empower others.

What sets me apart is not just my work ethic, but my perspective. I bring together creativity, strategy, and real-life experience of building from the ground up in a different culture. I understand both the challenges and the beauty of that journey—and I use that to fuel everything I do.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the biggest sources of inspiration in my life and a mentor has always been my mom. Education Teacher. She raised us with the mindset that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Since we were kids, she would always remind us to say or affirm the words, “Es fácil y puedo lograrlo”—“It’s easy and I can achieve it.” She would always reinforce our self-esteem and instill that mindset, which shaped how I approach everything in life, including finding opportunities, connecting with people, and staying confident even when things feel uncertain.

When it comes to networking or finding mentors, I’ve learned that it starts by not thinking on networking but getting to know other beautiful souls which have a story and share this beautiful life with us. Being open, genuine, asking questions and being kind. People connect with authenticity. I’ve built relationships by simply showing up as myself, asking thoughtful questions, and being willing to learn.

Also, don’t wait for the “perfect” connection. Reach out, go to events, join online communities, comment on other creators’ work, or just start conversations. The more you put yourself out there, the more your energy attracts the right people.
