Daily Inspiration: Meet Kayla El Adam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla El Adam.

Hi Kayla , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always find myself in a gym. Whether I’m on vacation, or moving to a new city, my first step is to find a gym to call home. I love using workouts as a way to harness my inner strength, to push through something really difficult, and to come out the other side knowing I got through it and grew from it.

I went through a very difficult season of my life that lasted five years. My mind was telling my body to give up, yet my body dragged me into the gym. The gym became a place where I could move through some heavy life stressors. It became a place where I grew mental toughness in addition to physical strength. Sometimes at 5am on a Tuesday, or 9pm on a Friday night, I rebuilt my spirit, one deadlift at a time.

I personal train because I want that same transformation for my clients. To dig deep inside themselves to uncover the strength that is within. To leave the session feeling stronger than when you walked in.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been very blessed with my personal training career. I started out working at Crunch in West Hollywood, where I had the pleasure of working alongside many talented trainers. We inspired each other, we shared knowledge, we pushed our limits. After the pandemic shut down gyms, I branched out onto my own and provided outdoor mobile workouts. The pandemic was definitely the biggest challenge. It was crucial to not let your health fall to the wayside during these seemingly endless lockdowns. So I quickly pivoted and created a fun, outdoor training experience for my clients, and I think they really enjoyed it!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a personal trainer. I specialize in traditional weightlifting for women, as well as balance and strength training for those 65+.

What sets me apart is my approach to the work. My programs are designed to push you mentally, not just physically. It’s critical for me to work on my client’s mindset when we are in the session. I have a gentle yet keen approach to see where my client’s hold back, and coach them to their next level.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ve been blessed, or you could say lucky, to have retained clients for many years. Most of my clients I’ve have for 3+ years, some are at the 7 year mark. In an industry where clients can be cyclical, I feel very honoured to have long standing clients that trust my guidance.
