Daily Inspiration: Meet John Klenk

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Klenk.

Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started acting in a summer-camp when I a kid. By the time I got to High School, I knew it was the only thing I wanted to do with my life. It’s where I found my people and it’s the easiest way for me to express myself and my internal world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been easy. There have been times when I had to dig deep just to do what I need to do just to keep my bills paid, not to mention trying to get auditions and make it to set when I book a gig. The hardest times are still when I am in between projects, though.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I get recognized the most for my commercial work and some YouTube videos I have done. I have been doing a lot of theater as well with a few different companies and that has been immensely fulfilling. I try to keep challenging myself by tackling different kinds of work and finding what makes each role unique.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t think you can have any sort of creative life without taking risks. Every job you accept (or decline) has its own risks. I think the biggest risk is to not do anything interesting by playing it safe.
