Daily Inspiration: Meet HAL0 STATION

Today we’d like to introduce you to HAL0 STATION.

Hi HAL0 , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
HAL0 STATION began as a group of friends from CalArts: DJs, musicians, visual artists, and filmmakers with a shared passion for using music as a catalyst to pursue our own personal artistry. We first began collaborating by throwing house parties and events – our first official event was the “Rave Cave,” a Halloween rave we threw beneath a freeway, complete with glow sticks, lighting, and a multidisciplinary team of young artists dedicated to the safety, production, and design of the night. The event went incredibly well and pushed us to continue exploring the idea of applying a multifaceted team to produce ambitious events. To think that our upcoming event on August 15th is a collaboration between several musicians from across the U.S., coming together for one night only at Nublu in NYC, is a far cry from our humble beginnings in Los Angeles.

Nowadays, we’re producing our own events and shooting DJ’s in unique, remarkable locations across Los Angeles, collaborating and filming artists like Daria V and beatzbyivy. Along the way, we’ve built up a roster of resident DJs who each bring a distinct sound to the collective: DEC0DA, Midnight Electra, Salgado, Sajen Blue, and Vantin.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve seen the greatest growth in our online content, especially since the road to creating a portable film production is not simple. For our longer videos on YouTube, we want to make sure each location is cinematic and impactful, which requires extensive pre-production, including scouting locations, lighting, safety, and feasibility planning.

In our early days of shooting we had a very bare-bones setup; we borrowed what we could and eventually built an entire portable DJ film production. Every small step felt like progress, and our earlier methods pushed us to be resourceful with what we had.

We also like to add an extra layer of experience design to our events. For example, we recently hosted an event called “Timeshift” in a repurposed army bunker with an immersive time travel theme. We encouraged our attendees to dress in attire from different eras and enjoy a carefully themed and curated club setting, along with the most advanced lighting and sound system at any of our events so far.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re proud of the consistency we’ve kept and the risks we’ve taken. We believe in perseverance, a drive for work filled with meaning and feeling, and the commitment to uplift creatives around us. Whether it’s building a film production piece by piece, producing an event from scratch, or helping another artist shine, we put in the work and we never lose sight of the bigger picture.

HAL0 STATION is here to offer a platform for our community. A place where people can learn, perform, grow, and feel like they’re a part of something larger. We’re not trying to stand out as individuals, we’re building something lasting together as a collective. We have been fortunate to play together at some of the coolest venues in LA, Miami and New York like Academy LA, Nublu NYC, Studio 24 Miami, and The Room Hollywood.

We’re bringing all of our energy to New York City on August 15 for Funkadelic Friday at Nublu, where we’ll be performing alongside artists such as Control the Sound and Kota Dosa. It will be a mix of DJ sets and live bands, and a chance for you to see what sets us apart as a collective.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We see the scene becoming more visual, more creative, and more community-driven. People want experiences, not just sets. Local collectives and DIY spaces will keep growing, and artists who collaborate and build together will stand out. It’s all about staying consistent, pushing ideas, and creating something real for people to be part of.
