Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Johnson
Hi Fred, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography has always been a part of my life. Growing up, my family placed a lot of importance on capturing memories through photos—whether it was birthdays, holidays, or family gatherings. My dad was a major inspiration, as he was usually the one behind the camera. Later in life, I became friends with people who were passionate about photography, which motivated me to buy my first camera. I joined them on countless photoshoots and photomeets, gradually honing my skills. Over time, I discovered that I enjoyed creating videos even more than taking photos, and that’s where my focus is today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s always a learning curve when trying something new. I often turned to friends who were more experienced for guidance and spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials to pick up new skills. However, much of the learning came from simply getting out there and shooting.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a part time freelance videographer who hopes to one day turn this into a full time thing. I specialize in capturing moments cinematically. I’ve been told people can tell something I’ve shot just by looking at it. I’m proud of all that I do, the people I’ve met, the relationships and growth that I’ve seen for myself as well as other creatives.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe success comes from taking chances, even when the risks are high. Hard work, consistent practice, and standing firm in what you believe in are what truly lead you to where you want to be.
