Daily Inspiration: Meet Eden Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden Coleman.

Eden Coleman

Hi Eden, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a 22-year-old professional dancer and content creator, hailing from Auckland, New Zealand.

Dance has always been more than just movement for me – it’s been my way of expressing who I am.
I started dancing at the age of 3, my mom could see in me, how I was always drawn to exploring the freedom and creativity dancing allowed.
It’s taken years of dedication, driving across the city daily after school, spending countless hours in the studio, working tirelessly across many disciplines of dance, constantly refining my skills and learning new styles, that led me to this point.
As I grew older, I knew that this was going to be my future career and that I didn’t want to just follow the steps, I wanted to create something that felt uniquely mine, and I never get tired, of the exhilaration of performing live on a stage.

Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to be supported by incredible mentors like Kiel Tutin and Todd Williamson, who not only believed in my talent but also gave me the opportunities to grow and showcase my artistry. Their guidance pushed me to refine my craft while staying true to my style, a mix of power, femininity and connecting with the audience on a deeper level. Dance and music are universal languages that speak when words fall short.

I’ve always been passionate about creating work that not only looks good but feels good, captivating people while remaining authentic to who I am. That mindset has also opened doors for me to work with some of the most inspiring creatives in the industry, including the next chapter I’m stepping into with Nicole Kirkland’s Kitty Kompound in LA. Being a part of a movement that empowers women through dance and embraces both versatility and confidence feels like a perfect alignment with everything I’ve been working towards.

It’s been a journey of trusting myself, staying dedicated to my craft, and always pushing to elevate, not just as a dancer, but as an artist. And honestly, I feel like I’m just getting started!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Dance has been all I’ve loved and known most of my life, and of course there have been obstacles along the way, and I feel very blessed by with my dance journey so far, but of course there are also some negative aspects to any career path you choose.

It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of what makes the journey and your achievements so much more rewarding.
In the dance industry, you’re constantly being challenged, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. One of the biggest struggles has been balancing the desire to stay true to my unique style while navigating an industry that often expects you to fit into a specific mould. It takes a lot of confidence to trust your vision when you’re surrounded by so much talent and competition.

There have also been moments of self-doubt – questioning whether I’m doing enough or if I’m on the right path. It’s easy to compare yourself to others, especially in an industry where opportunities can feel limited. But every time I’ve faced those adversities, I come back to why I started: my love for creating and the way dance allows me to express myself authentically and how it makes me feel alive.

Another tough part has been the sheer amount of work behind the scenes, training endlessly and constantly pushing myself to evolve. I’m currently working towards my O-1 visa, to move to LA and an incredible job opportunity I’ve been offered. It has been a huge undertaking, but I know it’s a step toward the bigger vision I’m building and I can’t wait!

In saying this, what’s kept me going is the support from my mentors who’ve believed in me through out my journey and given me opportunities to grow. And now, stepping into this new chapter in LA, it feels like a full-circle moment – proof that every struggle was preparing me for what’s next.
I’m also grateful to those who have inspired me along the way, having danced with very reputable NZ dance studios, representing NZ at an Elite level on a world stage, at the World HipHop Championships.
My previous dance studios include The Royal Family (RFV) which really pushed me to be a better dancer under the tutelage of world renowned choreographer Parris Goebel, IDCO (Masque & Yung ID), working with Josh Cesan and Neverland Studios (Khaos & Hijinx).

The road to success has definitely been up and down, but every obstacle has shaped me into the dancer and person I am today, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
To me, this is what it takes to make your authentic mark, and once you embrace that, you become unstoppable!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At my core, I’m a dancer and creative who’s passionate about bringing movement to life in a way that feels both powerful and authentic. I specialise in blending strength and femininity, whether it’s through performance, choreography, or teaching, I focus on creating work that not only captivates visually but also tells a story and makes people feel something.

I’m known for my ability to fuse versatility with a signature style that’s bold, smooth, and unapologetically feminine. My work often emphasises clean execution while maintaining a raw, emotional edge. I want every piece to feel unique while still being undeniably me. I’m especially proud of the moments where I’ve stayed true to my vision while evolving as both a dancer and an artist.

What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity. I don’t just want to follow trends, I want to create something that lasts. I’m passionate about empowering others through my work, especially women, encouraging them to embrace their confidence and individuality through movement. Beyond technique, I bring a level of intention and artistry to everything I do, whether it’s performing on stage, choreographing, or curating content that reflects my brand.

Beyond the stage, my dance journey continues to break boundaries through my social media presence (@edencolemann). My platforms are an extension of my artistry, where I connect with a global audience and share content that reflects who I am. This authentic connection has led to collaborations with both high-profile international and local brands and artists who align with my creative vision.
I’m humbled and proud that so much of my content has gone viral, which resonates with people worldwide. Being a young women coming from a small antipodean island, it’s incredibly validating to see my work make a positive, global impact. It’s a reminder that by staying true to yourself, leading with intention, and working hard, you can achieve anything – no matter where you come from or how big your dreams are, you can do it!

I know this is only the beginning. I’m constantly pushing myself to grow, take risks, and elevate, not just as a dancer, but as a creative voice making a difference within this industry.

Any big plans?
Yes, I am super thrilled as I’m moving from Auckland, New Zealand to Los Angeles, so right now, my top priority is securing a visa for my big move to LA this year. It’s been a long process, but one I’m embracing with open arms because I know my dreams will turn into reality.

I’m incredibly motivated to take my career to new heights, and recently, as I mentioned before, I was offered an amazing dance opportunity with one of LA’s best choreographers, an experience that will challenge and inspire me in all the right ways. On top of that, I’d love to book a world tour with an international artist and perform on another TV show. Just putting that out there into the universe ya know! I’m quite spiritual and believe that what is meant for me, won’t pass me. So I love to stay open to life and what it wants to bring me and continue to manifest all the right things!

Moving to LA feels like a natural and necessary progression for my dance career, its a creative hub, offering endless opportunities to grow, collaborate, and be surrounded by some of the most innovative and influential creatives in the industry. I’m looking forward to not only advancing my skills but also sharing my unique talent and continuing to inspire others through my work and making something of my self in such a huge, competitive city!

The LA dance scene has such a wide range of exciting networking possibilities for dancers to build a successful career. It’s home to some of the biggest names in the dance industry, visionary choreographers like Robbie Blue, Parris Goebel, Sienna Lalau, Sean Bankhead, and more, they’re industry leaders, who constantly push creative boundaries. Also being able to audition for tours with International Artists, Live Performances, Award Shows and Music Videos & Film/TV, the prospects are endless! That’s why this move feels so right for me, taking that next big step in my life and career to continue what I feel I was made to do.

My next chapter is all about expansion, pushing my boundaries, embracing new experiences, and staying true to the vision I’ve worked so hard to build. I know this is just the beginning, and I’m getting ready to make my mark in the LA dance scene, and couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead!
