Today we’d like to introduce you to Destani Jordan.
Destani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing music when I was ten years old after my dad overheard me rapping with my brothers in the garage. He recognized a natural gift in me, became my manager and poured into my music career at a young age. That support led me to sign with Tonestruck Records, audition for Universal Republic and open for major artists all while still in school. From a young age, music was my world and I spent years building myself as an artist.
But behind the accomplishments, I struggled with identity. I was talented but I wasn’t in control of my direction as a young artist. When my dad became sick and I lost the foundation of the team that helped me start, I walked away from music. During that time, I went through a difficult relationship that left me feeling lost investing in someone else more than myself and losing sight of who God created me to be.
In 2019 a feature opportunity brought me back into music and that opened something in me again. But it wasn’t until I rededicated my life to Christ in November of 2022 that everything truly changed. God restored my identity, healed what was broken and gave my gift a purpose not for attention but for His Kingdom.
That’s when Magnificent Mojo took on a new meaning. Originally, it was just a unique, creative name. Today, it stands for something spiritual.
MOJO stands for Mission of Jesus Overflow.
My music is no longer about who I am but about who God is and how He has transformed my life for His glory. My lyrics carry a different message, my visuals reflect a different intention and everything I create now is rooted in faith.
I’m walking in a new identity bold, creative and unashamed of my purpose. My mission is to use my gift to bring glory to God, to speak life, to encourage others and to show that your calling is bigger than your past.
From Yahnii to Magnificent Mojo, this chapter is about Kingdom impact. My music is my ministry, my story is my testimony and my purpose is to let the overflow of Jesus pour into everything I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No my journey has come with obstacles I never expected. One of the biggest moments in my life aside from losing my dad was finding out I had a brain condition. I went to the hospital for what I thought were migraines and the scans revealed that I have something called “Familial Multiple Cavernous Malformation Syndrome” in my brain and a dissection in my neck. Hearing that and learning what it means especially at my age and with such an active, busy lifestyle was overwhelming. It forced me to face reality, grow comfortable being uncountable and begin rearranging my life.
At the same time I was navigating stepping into adulthood without the support of my dad after his passing and trying to rediscover myself. The diagnosis made everything feel heavier at some point but it also made everything clearer. Instead of letting fear control me, I leaned into my faith. I realized that life isn’t guaranteed and neither is talent both are assignments. That shift changed my relationship with God and my purpose as a creative. Now my music and other creative projects aren’t driven by ego or survival it’s driven by gratitude, conviction and the understanding that every day I’m able to create period is a blessing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Purpose driven creativity is the foundation of my work. I also run a clothing brand rooted in faith, identity and purpose called “Kingdom Disciples” . I design street wear pieces that reflect spiritual confidence, clothing that reminds people who they are in Christ and what they carry. Fashion was another natural outlet for me, because I’ve always been hands-on with my visuals from styling my own wigs, hair, makeup and outfits to building full creative concepts from scratch. The clothing line evolved from that it’s art you can wear, created to spark conversation and confidence in your calling.
Beyond creating, I’m passionate about helping others find their purpose. I mentor young women, share resources, help others elevate their work in anyway I can and openly speak about my testimony. Not to glorify my past, but to show what God can do. My goal isn’t just to build a brand, but to build people, especially those who feel unseen or misunderstood in their journey with God. I want them to see that you can be creative, modern, stylish and still live for Christ.
What I’m most proud of is the shift in my mission. I used to create from ambition now I create from assignment. My art isn’t about chasing trends it’s about overflow. Whether it’s a song, a video, or clothing everything I put out carries intentionality and spiritual purpose.
What sets me apart is the combination of authenticity, testimony and the way I merge art with ministry. I’m not trying to be the “Christian version” of anyone I’m walking in what God gave me. My creativity comes from a real place the pain I survived, the battles I overcame and the grace that changed me. And I want that to pour into everything I touch from music to fashion to the people God assigns to me.
What makes you happy?
Living in my purpose and seeing the impact it has on others. I spent years searching for identity in relationships, success and validation and none of it ever filled me the way walking with God does. Also utilizing my gifts to help people see Him in themselves. I love seeing someone realize they’re called, valuable and capable of more than what they’ve been through.
