Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Mitchell
Hi Cody, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My creative journey started at a young age in Connecticut, where there weren’t many opportunities for artists. I was heavily involved in theater, joining every singing group and play I could, which sparked my love for singing and acting. I also got my first camera in middle school and quickly developed a passion for photography, capturing anything and everything. After my first year of college, I moved to Westport, CT with my partner, a graphic designer. We’d often go on shoots together, and I learned a lot about editing. Not long after, I began working as an event photographer for the town, which was an incredible experience.
I wanted to focus on portrait and fashion photography, so I joined a creative group on Instagram that brought together models and photographers from around New England. We’d meet up for big collaborative shoots, and that’s when I started working more in front of the camera, collaborating with experienced photographers. I traveled to New York whenever I could, and after building my portfolio and visiting California, I decided to take a leap. In 2020, during the pandemic, I packed up and drove across the country to Los Angeles, where I now call home.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredible photographers and have been featured in several magazines. I’ve been with PKA Agency and my model manager, Ryan Colby, for four years. Recently, I played the lead role in the horror-comedy short CreatureVille, which won ‘Best Comedy Short’ at the 2025 Hollywood Film Festival. It’s been an amazing journey, and I truly believe you miss the shots you don’t take.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges many artists face, especially in a city like Los Angeles, is balancing the cost of living with the pursuit of your passion. It can be incredibly difficult to manage the financial stress while working multiple jobs in hospitality just to make ends meet. On top of that, trying to stay on top of last-minute self-tapes and castings can feel overwhelming. The constant juggling of day jobs, auditions, and shoots can take a toll, but I’ve learned that it’s all part of the process.
When I don’t get a role, it’s easy to get discouraged, but I’ve come to understand that there are so many talented people out there. Not booking one role doesn’t mean another won’t come along. I remind myself that momentum is key—because it really does only take one opportunity to change everything. Even on the tough days, I try to keep pushing forward because in this industry, consistency and perseverance are everything.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a model, actor, and singer based in Los Angeles, and I specialize in bringing unique and authentic energy to every project I take on. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of campaigns, films, and music projects, which has helped me develop a well-rounded skill set in the entertainment industry. What sets me apart is my ability to seamlessly blend my passion for modeling, acting, and music, creating a dynamic presence that resonates with audiences. I’m most proud of my ability to stay true to myself in such a fast-paced industry, always aiming to connect with others through my work. Whether it’s on set or stage, I focus on telling a story and delivering a performance that’s both powerful and relatable.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
One of my favorite books is The Secret, which explores the concepts of energy, frequency, and the law of attraction. It’s also available as a documentary on Netflix, and I highly recommend watching it. It taught me no matter how challenging things may seem, it all depends on your mindset. If you focus on the negative, you’ll only attract negative results. But when you direct your attention to the positive, that energy radiates from you, and even those around you will feel it too.
