Daily Inspiration: Meet Charles Mosley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Mosley.

Hi Charles, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Fontana, CA, June 17th, 1991. I’ve lived in Ohio around the age of 3-6 years old, Akron to be specific. While living out there with both parents, My father being a professional tennis coach, used to coach LeBron James in tennis for a short time which proved to me overtime that you don’t really find your true calling out of nowhere. My father got me into Tennis, which propelled me to being very active at a young age. Basketball, Football, etc. I excelled in every sport I got involved in, but what really was my expertise was writing, poetry, coordination, things I’ve retained throughout my younger years. Therefore, I utilized the writing, the self-education of building a verse, a story, a song, just by listening to music without even fully understanding the structure of it or what I was doing. I’ve wrote for artist before in my younger years but I’ve always felt I was so ahead of my time within my mind I chose to take on doing so much myself. Such things as production, recording, promotion, marketing, design, etc. to where I’m at to this day, never ceasing to be creative in any endeavor I’m involved in.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. When you’re someone who isn’t somebody who chooses to rely on other people to help get things done, you put a lot on your plate, and you may just get full quicker than others. Nonetheless, doing things this way has kept me very disciplined knowing if I didn’t follow through with the things I needed to do to make my dreams come to fruition then it wouldn’t happen. I haven’t always been connected with the right people, whether it be the same mentality or goals or whether it be the same quality of talent I’ve felt. Even financial issues along the way have halted progress as well so I learned to adapt to that and use whatever resources I had at my disposal to stay creative in every aspect musically. At that point, that’s when I started to take on production more seriously than I did in my previous years.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m pretty all-around artistically but what stands out the most, I’d say is my music, I’ve been making music since I was nine years old and carried that on more seriously since I was 13. I’m a writer, rapper, singer, & producer. The genre I revel in is Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop & Rap. I Definitely delve into R&B, Dance, Pop, etc. just because I prefer not to be one dimensional with my creativity. Music is so universal I’d have to say I’m mainly proud of the fact that I’m able to reach so many people no matter which genre I decided to dwell in. I’m always staying true to myself when I’m creating that, I never lose myself in the process and the listeners never feel I’m trying to be someone I’m not. I think I enter the creation process with a different mindset than a lot of other people, most do what’s hot or popular. I choose to create with meaning but what means something to me, and when that resonates with others, it’s a beautiful feeling knowing you didn’t do something just because it’s trendy.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open and available for people who like to build. Speaking of, I’m currently building an online social media presence at the moment. Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Soundcloud are my main active accounts. Every eye and every ear is a great amount of support, so networking is always on my to do list.
