Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Colon.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Back in 2021, I was in Puerto Rico doing my bachelors in Secondary Education. I had 2 years left of finishing my bachelor’s when I realized I was doing something I wasn’t passionate about. It felt crazy to even thinking of taking that jump, but it was something I had to do or I wasn’t going to be true to myself. I told myself I was graduating, so that’s what I did. In 2023 I graduated from my bachelor’s and in August I was flying to San Francisco to start my masters in Fashion Art Direction. I came to San Francisco to absorb and learn everything that had to do with styling and creative direction. In my second year, I was able to built my portfolio after I took that first year to learn from people that had more experience than I did. In May 2025, I graduated, but that whole year was the hardest I’ve gone trough. That transition period of trying to get into the industry had been really hard and it has taken a toll on me, because it puts that doubt in your mind asking if I’m meant for this. Knowing myself that I am, but slowly but surely I am getting where I want to be! Currently i’m a Fashion Assistant for a woman that sells vintage designer and I have been working alongside her and her business. It has been one of the best thing that could’ve happen to me at the start of the year, I am so grateful for this experience.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, I think my hardest has been 2024 and 2025. It was a hard transition period graduating because it implanted a lot of doubt in my mind, as well as having impostor syndrome. I sat with the doubt of not being good enough, not being meant to be in the fashion industry, and having doubts of not even getting even close to accomplishing my dreams. Graduating hit me hard and it had me in a rut.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a stylist and creative director, and I love storytelling through editorials and styling! I get all my inspiration from the things I love like, music, movies, fashion shows, editorials, campaigns, and pop culture. What i’m most proud of would be how much of a creative i was, i always have been one but pushing myself to create has helped me realized I am talented. What sets me apart from other has to be my perseveration and the passion that i have for creating and storytelling.
What are your plans for the future?
I desire to be a celebrity stylist and/or creative director. Would also love to work for fashion magazines as a stylist and/or creative director. I am looking forward to either move to a big fashion capital so I can start moving towards my future plans.
