Hi Bella Brown, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For those of you that are just now being introduced to Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers, and our “Soul Clap” LP, the group was born from the creative genius of Grammy Award-winning vocalist/songwriter/dancer Carol Hatchett, Bella Brown emerges as a diva with a fiery stage presence that Italy’s Rockerilla Magazine has dubbed “The New Queen of Soul Funk”. Drawing inspiration from the female leads of 70s Blaxploitation films, Bella delivers in what Soultracks.com describes as “James Brown precision” and “Sharron Jones grit”.
Backed by The Jealous Lovers, a musical collective described by Germany’s SoulGuru Magazine as “on a tireless quest to redefine the boundaries of music by combining Soul and Funk with elements of Jazz, Rock, and Afro-Caribbean influences,” the group delivers nine songs that SlowShow.fr describes as a “atomic bomb of Soul Funk”. GoldMine Magazine(US) describes Soul Clap as an “album with an energy that will penetrate the listener to the core – body, soul, and spirit”. While the U.K.’s Echoes Magazine proclaimed simply that the music ”sounds so damn good.”
The “Soul Clap” LP has also won acclaim from press and radio, winning Album of the Month from Music Republic Magazine(UK), an Editor’s Pick from Blues & Soul Magazine(UK), a “5 Albums You Should Hear” mention from ShatterTheStandards.com, Top 30 placements by Soul Collection Radio and Solar Radio, and “Top 10 of 2024” mentions from Goldmine Magazine(US), CKUA Radio, and WYCE Radio, where “Soul Clap” took the #1 spot in their “Wrapped-Top Albums of 2024.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
