Daily Inspiration: Meet Arturo Padilla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arturo Padilla.

Hi Arturo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The concept of design has always been apart of my life. Growing up in my fathers tailor shop helped my creative boundaries become limitless. This is why I have a great understanding of design, textile , cut , pattern making and overall fit of a garment. My studies for fashion started with my family first then progressed to me taking it a step further and going to school for it so I could get proper industry knowledge. The schools that helped my idea of design grow are LATTC and CSULB where I got my bachelors degree in Fashion design and a minor in Fashion Merchandising. Everything I have learned along the way has helped shape me as an individual in the world of fashion.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to success is never a short rout. In my case everything is a learning experience and as one experiences life this is the proper road to success. Nothing comes easy but you are the only one who can make things go smoothly its all about perspective. For me it has not been hard but it has been challenging which only makes me a better person at understanding what needs to be done in order to take the next steps towards my goal.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My focus is Fashion Design for women. The designs that I am known for have a good amount of sex appeal with a mix of crystal work which my sister helps me incorporate into my designs since she is a crystal expert at embellishing. Alot of my designs have corsets as a main focus to help empower the women’s physique and show off its natural silhouette. This is a great structure to any design. What sets me apart is my overall aesthetic and approach on fashion with a different outlook on what is seen as appropriate and always playing with the idea of risque, while still being conservative at the same time. this is what gets the viewers attention when they see my designs since they want a new approach on fashion.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up as a child of immigrant parents in Los Angeles I was always very quite, focused and stayed to my self. My personality as a child was very observant and would take everything in visually so I had a better understanding of situations surrounding me. The life I lived at home was different from that of my friends. This shaped me to understand we are all in touch with a different reality and we should not judge where we come from but how we view the outcome of life. This made me grasp a view point that makes me understand today what I couldn’t understand as a child.
