I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Certainly not, after spending nine years working as a composer and sound designer in Mexico City I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Los Angeles.

Starting from scratch at 30yo is not an easy task in this competitive career, no one knew about my work so I had to prove myself to many people who would see me as a beginner.

Also, getting a work visa is very difficult so I am very lucky and grateful that I am in this amazing city working with the most talented people I know.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I recently worked on the action scenes for the tv show The Last of Us; this really let me indulge in a more aggressive and impactful sound that I love. Alongside my mentor David Fleming, we crafted a very raw and direct sound perfect for the Last of Us world. As Gustavo Santaolalla’s long-time fans, we really wanted to respect the soundscape and add our touch of rawness.

How do you think about happiness?
Sharing. If I can’t share anything good that happens to me it feels like it did not happen. Being able to experience situations with friends or family really makes me very happy and a part of something. I’ve been blessed to have many friends from different nationalities and backgrounds, and that has enriched my life so much and made me very grateful and open.
