Today we’d like to introduce you to TDO Von-T. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Channing Von Taylor (born July 11, 1985), better known by the stage name Von-T or TDO Von-T “The Hope”. He is an American rapper, DJ, singer & songwriter. In January 2019, after the music video for the hit single titled “Turn Off the Lights'”, he became a viral internet meme, accumulating over a million views on World Star Hip-Hop due to his many different styles and the custom helmet he dons.
Owner and CEO of Symbiotic Music Group℗. In 2022, the single titled “Anything 4 U” Feat. Timothy Bloom is his most successful single to date and spread the seeds of success across the internet today. He spent many years in the United States military but also has a deep love for the heart of the streets. He produces hip-hop music, EDM, 80’s “retro”, rock and roll, and emo rap music.
He always says, “It’s only when we lose everything we’re free to do anything, and some men can’t be bought, borrowed, or reasoned with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
He was criminally charged in the Army because he made Hip-Hop music, and the single “Turn Off the Lights” being targeted specifically. His situation grows as he continues to reach the world and spread the story about the U.S. Army and its racial practices. The U.S. Army and its affiliate programs within the government have tried everything they could do this silence this citizen. Knowing if they can generate a reason to shoot his credibility, they may stand a chance to convolute the facts surrounding his story.
Sheer determination and hope that the people will take action for the people is the driving force that keeps him going.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is never easy fighting for justice while pursuing your dreams, and this has been five years of a battle beneath the surface of major world events slowly making its way to headline news.
He was an Army CPT/hip-hop artist and was convicted of violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and deprived of needed medical treatment after he refused to comply with an unlawful order that also was never given to remove his music videos from social media. This followed with constant harassment and stalking done by the U.S. Army, which was also accompanied with ploys to destroy his name and tie him to all sorts of underground activities. They attempted to wipe the history of this Soldier completely from the Army mainframe.
He had to fight tooth and nail in very lengthy online battles and disputes every day to preserve his status and sanity while he continued to chase his dream to reach where he is currently at today.
Although Von-T had to fight his way to an honorable retirement. The battle has spilled outside the confines of the Army walls. Although he was never given an actual retirement, he remains laser-focused on making a change for all American warfighters through targeted and deliberate interviews to push a petition that he created called “Operation Musical Freedom that will hopefully push legislation that will protect Soldiers from being reprimanded for artistic expression, if it does not break any laws.
As Von-T retired in March 2022, he needs all the support to spread this story like never before. He talks over the situation about the U.S. Army, his career, and his fight for justice.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Being that Von-T is an actor, activist, business owner, and artist. His range of talents stretches across multiple areas of entertainment and business.
Whatever he aspires to he completes and has dominated almost everything in life he set a goal for. He traveled the world for both the U.S. Army and in entertainment. He had multiple jobs in the Army that spread over many different fields, with the last occupation being part of the military intelligence division of the U.S. Army.
Now on the path to clear his name, fight for justice, and become a respected musical artist, no one who knows him doubts his capabilities. He is a phenomenal human being who at a relatively young age, had already lived many lives. While in the service, he was also a combat instructor, Iraq War veteran, excelled at high school wrestling, graduated college with honors (Cum Laude) in Criminal Justice, and joined the honorable organization of Omega Psi Phi. He has won many acting, rap, step show, and modeling competitions, with even more accolades of achievements we can’t even begin to even understand in the service.
How do you think about happiness?
Seeing people come together and unite as one makes him happy. There is also a happy place found in knowing that when music is created, fans across the world rejoice with anticipation for his release.
Tailoring his skills in his craft to always provide the best sound coupled with an equally fascinating show is what brings the most joy to TDO Von-T.
