Conversations with Susanne Dybvik

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susanne Dybvik

Hi Susanne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It’s hard to say where it all started, but I have def always been a creative person and a storyteller. And curious to try new things and find new ways to express myself. And everything I have done, from modeling to influencing to now being an actress has progressed out of my own curiosity. I love being a content creator, because I get to be in charge of every step of the process, from coming up with the concept to the finishing product. Acting was always a dream that felt so distant and unachievable, but I took a chance last summer to start taking acting classes and the ball just started rolling. As of now I am working on getting experience and getting a reel, but the goal is to get an agent and manager so I can hopefully continue this journey at a higher level. I just kind of let life take me where I am supposed to go, but also know when its time to let things go!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There is always people who will shit on you no matter what you do. And as a model I met a lot of terrible people. Being criticized about my weight, my age, etc. However I made it to NYFW several times as well as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and other publications as a freelancer. And although the comments hurt, I somehow managed to keep going. I did struggle with an eating disorder when I was just starting out, but then I started doing fitness and competed in a bikini fitness competition which helped me heal my relationship to food. It took a while because I suddenly could control how my body looked in a different way, which can be harmful too. But now I am feeling healthier than ever.
Although my acting career has just started, it feels like an easier road. Not work wise but somehow opportunities comes easier and I feel at home.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
This is a hard question because I do so many different things. My main focus right. now is acting and ive recently change my niche to wellness and fitness as a content creator. I wrapped my first short film in December and currently in rehearsal for a play as well as starting another film project this month all which I am very proud of. I really want to do action movies so next steps would be to get some stunt and combat training.
I think I am different because I am not scared to try, and if something isn’t working I am not scared to let it go. that goes for everything whether its people or jobs. I know I’ll be okay at the end of the day, and my success isn’t measured in money or status.

What are your plans for the future?
I hope to be working as an actor but also have my own brand or have collaborations with a big brand for a collection or product. I just want to keep creating, travel and live comfortably. Hopefully be able to buy a house in the near future.
