Conversations with Shunji

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shunji

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began as a high school student in Los Angeles, originally from Japan. At 16, a friend and I started a clothing brand as a creative outlet, experimenting with designs and silk-screen printing in our dorm room. This passion continued to grow during my time in Tokyo, where I further honed my skills and learned about the fashion industry. What began as a hobby took a turn towards entrepreneurship as I realized the potential to turn our passion into something more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating the journey has been a mix of smooth stretches and challenging obstacles. While there have been moments of success and achievement, there have also been ongoing challenges and daily struggles that come with running a brand. Each hurdle has been an opportunity to learn and grow, contributing to the continuous evolution of the brand and its resilience in the industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in creating a diverse range of products including clothing, decks, and hosting events. Our brand, Always Busy Dreaming, draws inspiration from music, film, nature, and more, aiming to convey meaningful messages through our designs. What sets us apart is our vibrant community of creatives—from skaters to photographers, DJs to models—who contribute to a unique blend of creativity and collaboration.
