Conversations with Robyn Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Jackson.

Robyn Jackson

Hi Robyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I attended Orange Coast College from 2006-2010 and received a dance instructor certificate. As I went on auditions in LA and Orange County I noticed I was getting hired for a lot of singer/ dancer positions. One job took me all the way to Asia and I stayed there as a cover singer for 3 1/2 years. When I moved back to Northern California where I grew up I decided to focus on live singing and performing. Which eventually turned into me singing and songwriting in the studio. I released my first EP in 2019 and my second in February of this year. I’m now still cover singing and performing my original music.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were many struggles and triumphs. Lots of would be managers who didn’t agree with my vision. Lots of musicians who were really hard on me mentally and emotionally. Plenty of gigs where I just didn’t get paid. But I’ve learned so much from every hard moment. It has taught me so much about the industry as a whole.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer and songwriter. I work with many producers and musicians and love to write music. It includes not only the lyrics but vocal production, audio engineering, music production, and so much more. I’m mostly known for my live performances.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My aim is to be a charting artist. I would like to travel the world and go on tour doing my music. Artists like Rihanna, Victoria Monet, Arianna Grande, and Chris Brown are all examples of the kind of artist and life I want to be and have as an artist.
