Today we’d like to introduce you to Rina Jakubowicz.
Hi Rina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started with a curiosity about a world I had never heard about or experienced. I only remember feeling and realizing that the life presented in the books was one that promised a life lived differently- a life discovered within myself. This felt familiar and so Yoga on and off the mat felt immediately like I had returned home at the age of 19. This sparked the seeker in me and so since that day – wide-eyed and hungry – I embarked on a journey for the truth. Every action taken since has taught me what is on the path and what isn’t based on its effect. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and had the opportunity to correct them best I can, leading to magical moments along the way. Where I am today is still seeking the truth. Still on the journey. Yet more clear, more fulfilled, more grateful and more aware of my role in this world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Never a smooth road and am grateful for that. The road isn’t smooth because I wasn’t smooth. The struggles came from not understanding myself and confusion on my highest ideals and values. I also didn’t know how to manage the challenges that will inevitably come with business and personal growth. There will always be profits and loss – hence the phrasing. It’s how one deals with these changes that is essential for continued growth and success. When my ego got in the way, I felt small and limited myself, and those around me. Instead, when I learned who I really am and lived in more alignment with that, I learned there’s no need to make myself small. We are all spokes on a wheel so we all have our purpose and gift to share. No need to compare, compete or complain. Instead embracing my limitations and uniqueness helped me expand and see what I am capable of. It was a reminder to recall what I am really seeking on this journey and pivot accordingly.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So, what do you do?
Honestly, the simplest way I can put it is — I help people understand that yoga is not a workout, even though it can make you physically stronger and more flexible. It’s more of working within oneself. I’m a yoga and practical philosophy teacher, author, speaker, and entrepreneur. I founded Rina Yoga, I created Super Yogis for kids, tweens and parents, and I help yoga teachers build sustainable businesses through A Yoga Teacher Success Journey. Basically teach them the secrets of what I did for myself. So I kind of cover the whole spectrum — from the mat to anyone who is really seeking something more in their lives.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in making yoga philosophy actually accessible — like, real-life applicable. A lot of people think yoga philosophy is this dense, intimidating thing, and I love breaking it down in a way that’s fun and relatable. I also teach in both English and Spanish, which is something I’m passionate about because the Latino community deserves to experience yoga in a way that feels like home.
What are you most proud of?
I think what I’m most proud of is the ripple effect. When I train a teacher who then goes on to touch hundreds of students — that’s the kind of impact that keeps me going. Or when I work with a mother who is learning to apply the teachings and step into their greatness in a new way, and helps their family be more connected, that warms my heart in a way that is meaningful to me. And honestly, writing The Yoga Mind was a huge moment for me. Then, realizing that teacher trainings worldwide are using my book as a curriculum for their training was exciting but not for the reason you may think. It gave me joy to know that more people would come in contact with Vedanta and my teacher A. Parthasarathy through reading the book. That they too could discover the true gift of how this philosophy could change their lives. Making ancient philosophy feel approachable to a modern audience was a real labor of love.
What sets you apart?
I’m 100% willing to be myself which translates into the combination of depth and joy aka silliness. I’m not just teaching poses — I’m teaching a whole way of living – that I didn’t make up myself. And I do it with a lot of laughter and warmth. People leave my classes, sessions and trainings feeling both inspired and like they just had a genuinely good time. That balance — where it’s real and meaningful but also just… fun — that’s my thing. And if it inspires someone else to live authentically themselves without holding back, then that’s a bonus. 🥰
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes! Pitch up a higher ideal from the beginning. Something that makes you expand your capacity to serve and benefit a wider range of people beyond yourself and your family. Then you won’t compromise your values for others, especially while working. This higher ideal keeps you in check to stay true to yourself. You won’t be bothered by others telling you what you can and can’t do. You’ll have conviction to follow your path no matter how weird or unpopular it seems to others. This will bring more lasting happiness. Now go find it! 🙂
