Conversations with Naomi Berg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Berg

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Quebec, Canada (yes—I speak French!) and have been living in California for almost 20 years.

From a young age, I’ve always been driven by creativity, constantly seeking ways to express myself through art. Whether it was drawing or crafting, I found joy in bringing ideas to life. Over time, this passion evolved into makeup artistry, a medium that allows me to explore endless possibilities. What fascinates me most is the transformative power of makeup—how a few brushstrokes can enhance someone’s natural beauty and boost their confidence.

Helping people feel beautiful is truly magical. Watching someone light up when they see themselves, feeling radiant, is what fuels my love for this craft.

Since 2022, I’ve expanded my services with French Brow Bar to include hyper-real microblading alongside makeup artistry. I’m thrilled to offer natural microblading in a sleek, modern studio in the city of Orange, where I have the privilege of working alongside my mentor, Audrey Glass—a true legend in the microblading world! Audrey and I are both French Canadians and have known each other for years, so learning from her has been a dream.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Challenges come in many forms, but I always pause and ask, “What can I learn from this?”
It’s usually how I turn obstacles into opportunities for growth.

Social media has definitely changed the game for artists, pushing us to be content creators, editors, comedians—you name it. While I understand the importance of having an online presence, I much prefer focusing on real, one-on-one connections with my clients. That’s where the real magic happens for me.

I’m so grateful for the trust my clients place in me. The relationships we’ve built over time mean everything, and honestly, word of mouth and direct referrals are what keep me going.

Forget chasing likes and algorithms—give me genuine connections any day!

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had strong mentors throughout my professional journey. Their guidance has been invaluable, not just in sharpening my skills in microblading and makeup artistry, but in teaching me how to rise above challenges and continuously improve.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At French Brow Bar, I’m known for my non-cookie-cutter approach to microblading. Your brows should be customized to fit your unique face and features, not based on a one-size-fits-all template. With over 12 years of experience in makeup artistry, transitioning to microblading felt natural, as I’ve worked on hundreds of faces. I fully customize each client’s brow color—never using the same formula twice—because everyone is truly unique. During the mapping process, it’s a collaborative experience where we set realistic expectations, ensuring the results are exactly what the client envisions.

Strong communication with my clients is key. I make sure they feel confident and heard every step of the way, leaving no stone unturned. It’s amazing to see how their body language changes when they realize their input shapes the entire experience—they relax, trust the process, and feel comfortable.

For makeup artistry, communication is everything as well. Most people want to look like the best version of themselves, simply enhanced, not someone completely different—and that’s my specialty. I often hear, “No one has ever done my makeup this well; this is exactly what I wanted.” I credit that feedback to my focus on open communication and active listening.

Ultimately, I encourage my clients to share their thoughts, vision, and desires throughout the process. It’s that back-and-forth connection, the collaboration, that ensures they walk away feeling their absolute best.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love OC! Growing up in Quebec, Canada, the environment here is a shift from what I was used to—especially the weather, which I love here.
However, what really draws me to OC is the mix of diverse cultures blending together. It’s such a vibrant place, and I love raising my child in this diverse environment where one gets to experience different perspectives, foods and traditions.
