Hi Kris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey began on the football field, where I learned the values of teamwork, dedication, and resilience. After high school, I pursued a career in law enforcement, believing that becoming a police officer was my calling. For years, I studied tirelessly, fueled by a passion for helping others. However, along the way, I discovered a different path that allowed me to express my creativity and love for storytelling.

I realized that my desire to help people could take many forms. It was during this pivotal moment that I found my true passion: creating films that capture the essence of love and connection—what I now call “Free Nostalgia.” This epiphany was further solidified when my wife gifted me a camera for my 23rd birthday, a tool that would change the course of my life.

With that camera, I founded Zomtape Films. Today, I use it to craft wedding films that celebrate the real, raw, and unscripted moments of couples on their special day. I believe in the power of authenticity—there are no fancy animations or flashy effects in my work. Instead, I focus on capturing the genuine emotions and stories that unfold, allowing couples to relive their most cherished memories for years to come.

From a high school football player to a wedding filmmaker, my journey has taught me that helping others can manifest in various ways. Through my films, I strive to create lasting memories that resonate with people, celebrating love in all its beautiful forms.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. At 26 years old, I’ve navigated through many different industries—warehouse, corporate, entertainment, retail, food service, Uber, Lyft, and education. Each experience felt like a step into the unknown, and often, I found myself lost, searching for my true purpose.

However, I now realize that every twist and turn in my journey was part of a greater plan that Jesus had in store for me all along. I learned valuable lessons from each job I held, gaining insights that would shape my understanding of what I truly wanted to do. While it was a challenging path, each experience contributed to my growth and ultimately led me to discover my passion for filmmaking.

I specialize in capturing raw, authentic, and cinematic wedding stories with a modern and timeless style. My focus is on creating films that celebrate love, unity, and compassion, highlighting the genuine moments that unfold throughout the day. I’m known for my “Free Nostalgia” approach, which emphasizes real, unscripted emotions without the distraction of fancy animations or effects.

What sets me apart is my dedication to authenticity. I believe that the most beautiful stories are the ones that unfold naturally, allowing couples to relive their day with purpose and heart. My ideal clients are those who value intentionality and adventure, seeking a wedding filmmaker who understands the significance of their love story.

What matters most to me is the love of Jesus. This love serves as the foundation of my life, guiding my actions, relationships, and creative endeavors. It inspires me to approach my work with compassion, authenticity, and purpose. Through Jesus’s love, I find the strength to overcome challenges and the motivation to help others. It fuels my passion for storytelling, allowing me to capture and celebrate the beauty of love and connection in my films. Ultimately, it’s this love that shapes who I am and how I strive to make a positive impact in the lives of those around me.
