Conversations with Jemora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jemora.

Jemora

Jemora, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jemora. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, aka Chuco Town! Surrounded by music my whole life, with both my parents being musicians, the artistry of sound and music is in my blood. I grew up watching my parents perform at open mics, restaurants, and church mass, even performing with them occasionally. Growing up, I was drawn to music in different ways. Starting around age 10, I would choreograph and perform songs from artists like Ciara, Shakira, Mariah Carey, and many other artists. Other ways included playing the violin for a few years, writing poetry, dancing throughout high school, and even using music to get into character while I attended drama school. Finally, I fully pursued my passion for music when I attended the Los Angeles Recording School. I’ve been honing my craft since.

I came out to LA in 2016, and it’s been one hell of a journey. As many are familiar with, sustaining and surviving in LA on your own is a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. My main purpose is to create true self-expression through my music and art which will open doors to new perspectives and ideas; and hopefully let people know they’re not alone. Navigating away from home will test your dedication, resiliency, and true desires. With that being said, I have and continue to prove to myself that nothing will get in my way in fulfilling that purpose. I have so much faith in my journey, and I am eager to experience the places my music will take me.

I released my first single, “Breakaway,” in 2021. Since then, I’ve released 2 singles and an EP, “Don’t Tempt Me,” available on all platforms. My latest upcoming project titled, “D.O.S.A” (acronym for Dawn of Self-Actualization) based on psychologist Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs idea. The music on their reflects my relationship with ego, confidence, freedom of self, and realizing my power. I am thrilled to share “D.O.S.A,” a piece of my world, with the rest of the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Obstacles I encountered since moving out here mainly had to do with unstable income and securing healthy living situations.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a music artist. I rap, sing, write, and produce my music. I create Rap/Hip Hop, Pop, and R&B music. Right now, I wear all the hats pertaining to my music career. I believe one has to in the beginning, at least.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My perseverance. “Giving up” has never been an option for me. I will exhaust every resource and tactic before that’s even thought of. There will always be another way as long as I have my will. My will is my purpose; therefore, the ways are infinite.
