Conversations with Gabriela Aifan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Aifan.

Hi Gabriela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Gabriela Aifan Chacon, and I was born in Los Angeles but raised in Moreno Valley, CA. Throughout my life, I have always held a deep affection for animals, especially dogs, despite being allergic to them. Dogs have been a constant presence in my life, and they mean the world to me. When I was a teen, my father gifted me two Dalmatians, which lit up my world.

When I was just 14 years old, my life took a heartbreaking turn with the loss of my mother. A few weeks after her passing , my father brought Luna and Munchies into my life to help ease my sadness and loneliness. I often say that my dogs saved me during that dark time—they brought me joy and comfort every single day.

Not long after, Luna was unexpectedly expecting her first litter of puppies. As a teenager, I had no experience with newborns, but I was determined to learn everything I could to care for them of course with the help of my father, Edgar Aifan . What I knew for certain was that we wanted to find the puppies loving homes filled with compassion and warmth.

Many families came to us each with their own touching stories—some shared losses while others were looking to build new families. One family, in particular, resonated deeply with me. A father and daughter shared a story that mirrored my own. It was a profound moment, as I realized I could help create joy and happiness for others, just as Luna and Munchies had done for me.

That experience ignited a passion in me—a love for bringing excitement and happiness to new families, regardless of whether it was their first pet or not. The joy and anticipation are always the same. In 2019, I officially started MV Dalmatians, with my father and sister Camila and it has truly been one of the most fulfilling endeavors of my life. I feel incredibly grateful to be part of so many heartwarming journeys, and I cherish the connections I’ve made through this work.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has certainly been rewarding. With the invaluable support of veterinarians and local breeders, along with my father, Edgar Aifan, we navigated the challenges of raising newborn puppies. Countless sleepless nights have been spent caring for these tiny bundles of joy, and we continue to dedicate our time to ensuring the safety and well-being of both the pups and their mother.

In those early days, we quickly learned that newborn puppies require extra attention and care. There were times when some of them needed to be bottle-fed, and we became accustomed to monitoring them throughout the night, a task that proved to be an exhausting yet fulfilling challenge. Thanks to the guidance from our local vet, I acquired the knowledge necessary to understand when puppies should receive their vaccines and at what age they should be administered.

Additionally, our local breeders provided us with a wealth of information on appropriate food recommendations, which was crucial as we began introducing solid food to the puppies. I discovered that goat milk is an incredible source of nutrition, especially beneficial in their early development. When we eventually transitioned to kibble, we continued to mix it with goat milk, ensuring that these little ones received a balanced and nourishing diet. We are immensely grateful to our local vets and breeders for their support and expertise throughout this rewarding journey of puppy care.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in breeding purebred Dalmatian puppies, with a deep commitment to ensuring their safety and well-being from the moment they are born. My primary focus has always been to create a nurturing environment where every puppy thrives, receiving the love and care they need. I take great pride in matching my puppies with loving families, ensuring that each one goes home to a environment that is as dedicated to their happiness and development as I am.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe that one of the key factors to our success lies in our commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of our puppies. It’s essential to create an environment where they can thrive, which includes facilitating regular socialization opportunities. We understand that bringing a puppy into your home is just the beginning of the journey, so we provide ongoing support even after adoption. Our dedication to open and consistent communication with all puppy parents ensures that you feel confident and informed every step of the way.
