Conversations with Fayza Khalifa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fayza Khalifa

Hi Fayza, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey in theater has been one of passion, resilience, and deep artistic commitment. From my early performances to lead roles in plays like Reveals and Information for Foreigners, I’ve always been drawn to stories that challenge societal norms and explore complex themes like minority resistance, mental health, and structural inequalities.

My experience with contact improvisation and my love for creative exploration have shaped how I approach storytelling on stage. Beyond acting, I’ve also stepped into the role of playwright, crafting narratives that delve into personal subjectivity and emotional depth.

Theater isn’t just a profession for me—it’s a calling. It keeps me grounded, inspired, and alive. Despite the inevitable challenges that come with being an artist, my passion for truth and social consciousness drives me to create work that resonates with and transforms audiences.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey in theater has been filled with passion and resilience, but it hasn’t always been easy. Like many artists, I’ve faced my share of rejection; auditions where I wasn’t chosen, projects that didn’t work out, and moments of self-doubt that made me question if I was on the right path. Accepting rejection has been one of the hardest struggles, but it’s also taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance and self-belief.

Over time, I’ve learned that every “no” brings me closer to the right opportunity. I believe deeply that what’s meant for me will find me, and this mindset has kept me moving forward. There have been times when I felt lost or unsure of my place in this industry, but I’ve always found my way back to the stage because it’s where I truly belong.

Through it all, I’ve remained committed to creating work that speaks my truth, explores deeper themes, and resonates with others. Theater is my passion, and I know that as long as I stay true to my purpose, the right roles and opportunities will come to me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actress and model with a passion for projects that challenge norms and explore meaningful, thought-provoking themes. My work spans theater, film, and fashion, and I like to bring depth and authenticity to every role I take on. From plays like Reveals and Information for Foreigners to modeling campaigns for brands like Away and Saks, I’ve been fortunate to work on projects that resonate on both personal and social levels.

One of my most rewarding experiences has been playing the lead role in The Brides, an upcoming web series that gave me the chance to work on a rich and dynamic character. I am also excited about my upcoming lead role in the feature film Corner of My Eye, which continues to push me as an artist and storyteller. These opportunities have strengthened my commitment to creating work that feels both impactful and authentic.

I believe in the power of storytelling to inspire reflection and connection. My multicultural background and interest in social issues shape my approach to art, and I aim to stay true to these values in everything I do. Whether in theater, film, or fashion, I hope to contribute to projects that spark meaningful conversations and leave a positive impression.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe that resilience and having unwavering belief in myself and my work are the two most crucial qualities for achieving success. Resilience is the foundation that helps you navigate the inevitable obstacles and setbacks along the way. It’s about being able to adapt, rise after failures, and keep moving forward with determination and strength, no matter how difficult the circumstances may seem.

Equally important is believing in yourself and the value of what you create. Success requires a deep sense of self-confidence and trust in your vision, even when others may doubt or fail to understand it. This belief keeps you grounded and committed, allowing you to remain authentic to your truth and loyal to the art you are passionate about.

In my opinion, success is not just about achieving goals; it’s about staying true to who you are throughout the process. By embracing resilience and self-belief, you can overcome challenges, remain dedicated to your craft, and continue to grow as an artist and as an individual. These qualities not only drive success but also make the journey meaningful and fulfilling.
