Today we’d like to introduce you to Dvs & Will Bace
Hi DVS & Will , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Boston base, comedians and identical, twin brothers are the founding producers of the dirty bird show. A large scale production which features puppetry as well as improv characters and comedians.
This production has taken New England by storm as the dirty bird show has become one of the most popular unique comedy presentations in the area.
Since 1992 when the brothers began producing comedy shows to their current cult, like following this production has something for everyone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the local comedy scene other well respected comedy bookers were hesitant to include comedy puppetry as most felt it would have a hard time keeping people’s attention.
That has proved to be not the case as this show sells out, performing art Studios, and other venues around New England consistently.
There is still some hesitation from comedy bookers to consider acts outside of straight stand up, and we have hoped to inspire many of them to recognize. There are many different art forms that can greatly contribute to shows in the art of making others laugh.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The dirty bird show consists of multiple sketch comedy acts with reoccurring characters that have become local and online favorites.
The main antagonist of the show are a pair of devious crows who consistently terrorize the neighborhood and find themselves getting into hilarious situations and plotting to avoid retribution by those in the neighborhood who seek to get rid of them.
This production is much more than puppets telling jokes. They are detailed stories and storylines that are put to music by the dirty bird band and also accompanied by singers, dancers and live action comedy characters.
What started as a funny exchange between two brothers and two puppets in the basement making short online videos to what it is now in over two hour production with a large cast is remarkable.
The brothers are often receiving emails and messages from fans with regards to anticipation of storylines that are continued through short vignettes online.
This act has also been invited to numerous comedy festivals around the United States.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The New England comedy scene has a ton of very funny working stand-up comedians, and it has been very personally rewarding to have been accepted into the scene with so much diversity and competition for shows.
