Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Stevens.
Hi Byron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started CHROBOT out of a desire to create the kind of representation I always wanted to see growing up. I’ve always been drawn to anime, science fiction, and the limitless possibilities of storytelling through art. But one thing I consistently noticed was the lack of meaningful representation of Black people in those worlds. And when we were represented, we were often placed in supporting roles or included as the token Black character rather than being the person the entire story revolved around.
I wanted to change that. I wanted to create worlds where Black characters weren’t just included but were the main characters, the heroes, the villains, the people with extraordinary abilities, and the ones driving the entire story forward. I wanted to see characters who looked like us existing in futuristic cities, traveling through space, wielding incredible powers, and experiencing the kinds of adventures that have inspired audiences for generations. I believe our stories deserve to exist in those spaces without limitations.
That desire eventually led me to create CHROBOT, an art brand built around imagination, representation, and bringing unique ideas to life. I started creating artwork that reflected the things I wanted to see more of in anime and science fiction, and I began sharing my creations on TikTok.
Honestly, the response was something I never could have fully anticipated. My page started growing incredibly fast, and before I knew it, people from all over the world were discovering my art, engaging with it, and expressing how much they connected with what I was creating. It was amazing to see that something I started because of a personal passion resonated with so many other people.
I think what makes CHROBOT special is that it offers something different. It’s a breath of fresh air for people who love anime, science fiction, and futuristic storytelling but want to see themselves represented in those worlds in ways they may not have experienced before. My art gives people the opportunity to imagine themselves as the main character rather than someone standing in the background.
As my audience continued to grow, people began reaching out to me about commissions. They wanted me to create custom artwork based on their own ideas, personalities, and stories. Some wanted to see themselves transformed into anime-inspired characters, while others had entire worlds and concepts they wanted me to bring to life.
That quickly became one of my favorite parts of what I do.
Of course, being able to make money from something you’re passionate about is a blessing, but the financial aspect has never been the most rewarding part for me. What I genuinely love is the creative process of taking something that exists only in another person’s imagination and turning it into something they can actually see.
There’s something incredibly fulfilling about having someone come to you with an idea, sometimes one they’ve been imagining for years, and trusting you to make it a reality. Watching their reaction when they finally see their vision brought to life is what makes the entire process worth it. At that point, it’s no longer just artwork I’ve created. It’s something personal to them, something that represents their imagination, their identity, or a story they’ve always wanted to tell.
Through those experiences, CHROBOT has evolved from simply being a place where I share my own creative ideas into a platform where I can help other people explore theirs. I’ve realized that what I enjoy most about being an artist is having the ability to create things that didn’t exist before and give other people the opportunity to experience that same feeling of possibility.
Today, my TikTok has grown to 14.4K followers, and I’m continuing to build CHROBOT into something much bigger than what I originally envisioned. What started as me creating the representation I wanted to see has become a growing community of people from around the world who share a love for imaginative art and storytelling.
Looking back, it’s exciting to see how far something that began as a personal creative outlet has come. I started by creating characters and worlds that I felt were missing from the entertainment I loved, and now I have the opportunity to bring other people’s visions to life as well.
My ultimate goal with CHROBOT is to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity and representation while building a brand that inspires people to see themselves as the main characters of their own stories. I want my work to remind people that their imagination doesn’t have to be limited by what they’ve already seen on a screen. If they can envision it, there should be a space where that vision can come to life.
And for me, that’s what CHROBOT is all about. It’s about representation, imagination, and creating something that makes people feel seen while opening the door to worlds they may have never thought possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No not really since it was something I was very passionate about.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
CHROBOT is a creative art brand centered around imagination, representation, and bringing extraordinary ideas to life. I specialize in creating highly detailed, cinematic artwork inspired by anime, science fiction, and futuristic worlds. From powerful characters to immersive environments, my goal is to create artwork that feels like a scene from a movie or an entirely new universe waiting to be explored.
One of the things CHROBOT has become known for is creating powerful Black characters in worlds where we haven’t always been prominently represented. I love incorporating elements of Black culture, modern streetwear, and futuristic fashion into my work. I also enjoy creating immersive environments that allow people to escape reality and imagine themselves somewhere completely different.
Another major part of CHROBOT is my custom commission work, which is honestly one of my favorite things to do. I love taking someone’s creative vision and turning it into something they can actually see. The most rewarding part isn’t the money; it’s seeing someone’s reaction when their imagination finally comes to life.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built and the way my artwork has connected with people around the world. What started as simply creating the kind of art I wanted to see has grown into a community of 14.4K followers on TikTok. Knowing that my work resonates with people who share my passion for anime, science fiction, and imaginative storytelling means the most to me.
I believe what sets CHROBOT apart is the combination of representation, storytelling, and the interactive experience I create around my art. I want people to do more than simply look at my work. I want them to imagine themselves inside these worlds and feel like they’re part of the story.
Ultimately, my goal is to continue creating artwork that makes people feel seen, brings their ideas to life, and allows them to imagine themselves as the main character in their own extraordinary story.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family. They’re my biggest motivation and the reason I push myself to keep growing, both personally and creatively. Everything I do is driven by the desire to build a better future for the people I love and create something meaningful that they can be proud of. My family keeps me grounded, reminds me of what truly matters, and inspires me to keep going even when things get challenging. At the end of the day, success means so much more when you have people you love to share it with.
