Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Sanchez
Hi Anthony, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a young teenager music has always been something that I have looked forward to everyday. Blasting my headphones full volume on my way to school and home on the bus everyday (in retrospect not the best idea # tinnitus gang) was my favorite part of the day.
I was very heavily into edm growing up as I was exposed to it via my father, but later became infatuated with it rock/grunge/emo, the stuff most teenagers get into when they’re young and edgy. Although, one band stuck out to me the most, I discovered Sonic Youth and immediately dove head first into all that was grunge, all while getting sucked heavily into the DIY and punk scene. For most of my teen years, I spent them going to backyard gigs, riverbed gigs, and any concert that caught my attention.
Eventually, I began wanting to host my own shows in the DIY scene and that I did. Starting by hosting events in backyards, houses, and anywhere that let me in. As anyone trying to do a venture, not knowing what I was doing played a heavy role in some of my shows being complete blunders. I took a break because handling money and responsibilities as a teen was not something I wanted to do. I focused on making music with my bands at the time, eventually releasing singles and EPs into my college years.
Coming into community college, the pandemic hit which took a massive toll on my creative health because I had no outlet to express myself especially due to all rehearsal spots being closed. Eventually as the pandemic eased up, I began helping my friends get more shows whilst playing in a band. That grew into a managerial position for them as it became a, “if you’re doing this for us full time why not just manage us”. I realized this was something I enjoyed doing and was really good at. This led up to 2023, where I was working for the city of los angeles as a case worker, until I broke up ankle forcing me to leave the position. With a lot of downtime recovering I dove head first into music business launching “Sonic Sound Entertainment” my now full time music business that revolves around music management, events, and booking.
This has allowed me to flesh out my music career by booking and playing venues that I have been frequenting as a teenager, memorable as the main room at the observatory to the stage at the teragram ballroom.
I continue to make music with my Band “Clarion”, and have released music with previous bands such as “The Crymes” “Delaware”. I am currently on a full North American tour with “Julie” as a backline tech.
Thanks for reading!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very rough road, the music industry is a non forgiving giant, it’s all hard work but more luck than anything. I’m barely clawing my way out of the dirt and now onto the mud beginning to do a lot of the things I dreamed of doing. That is the least emotional struggle i dealt with in this journey.
During my time in The Crymes, my closest friend and Singer Anna Solis unfortunately passed away, during a blossoming time of our music. This took a massive toll on my physical and mental health just due to how close we were. My want to create and enjoy art went away for a while eventually coming back with the help of family and friends.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in making, marketing, and producing music.
I am known for my music and booking aspect of events.
I am most proud of my accomplishments in meeting my deadlines for things I wish to do. This year 2024 alone, I have played and booked multiple venues i’ve been dreaming of since I was a teenager. I am also now on my first North American tour.
I am not sure if anything sets me apart from others, as like anyone, i’m just trying to make it out here.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people don’t know that I was a social worker for 4 years.
