Conversations with the Inspiring Sheryl Benjy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheryl Benjy.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started painting professionally five years ago. It has helped me heal in so many ways. Now, I help others through my artwork. I try to incorporate positive energy and images in my art. I started doing body paintings that I call Body Soul Art in 2016. I began to notice this beautiful transformation that happens when I paint someone. Women turn into these magical goddesses and men into a work of art. I became obsessed. It has transformed my life as well, and I want to share my work with as many people out there that I can. It’s a time to spread light and positive energy and what better way than art!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been challenging. There have been days where I just wanted to throw in the towel and just give up. But I kept pushing myself because I felt in my heart that I was born with this gift to help others and myself. I struggled with selling my work and got rejected by a lot of galleries. I started to have my own gallery shows in my home. I was going to make it happen no matter what. I kept trying and eventually started to build momentum and business slowly started to pick up.

My advice to young women is to do what you truly love, and everything else will follow. Consistency is key. Just never stop believing and when one door closes it means another will open. I know it sounds so cliche, but it’s true. We are all here for a purpose and to fulfill our dharma or personal calling.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Art by Sheryl story. Tell us more about your artwork.
I am an artist, and I specialize in painting abstract pieces and doing body paintings. I’m very proud of my body art a.k.a. Body Soul Art. It’s unique and beautiful. Anyone who does it says it’s better than they had imagined. It’s a magical experience. We all need to add a little fantasy to change things up in our day to day lives. My mission as an artist is to bring out everything a person covers or hides. I want to uncover each person’s true essence and allow them to shine. We are all here to show all our beautiful colors.

All my work centers around positive light and energy. Each piece has its own personal story/note that I share with the buyer and that they can take home with the painting.
