Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Posthuma.
Hi Victoria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Orange County, California, where the salty air mixed with the scent of orange blossoms, creating vivid memories of my childhood. As a native of this sun-soaked area, I relished the proximity to the ocean, feeling its presence even from miles inland. The morning sun often painted the horizon in gold, inviting my siblings and me to play in the orange groves and swim in our backyard pool.
As the fourth of six children in a chaotic household filled with the energy of three boys and three girls, my upbringing was rich with laughter and the occasional sibling rivalry. My parents were both artists—my father a prolific artist known for his sold-out gallery shows in Los Angeles, and my mother a writer and illustrator whose stories never gained widespread recognition. They created a warm, art-filled home for us, notably in our Eichler house, a mid-century marvel with floor-to-ceiling windows and open beams that invited light and creativity into our lives. This unique space became a playground for our imaginations, setting the stage for the artistic influences that shaped my early years.
I found my way to LA County in my mid-twenties, where I began to build a family of my own. I raised two sons, nurturing their dreams as my parents had done for us, hoping to instill in them a love for art, music, and the boundless beauty of life. Both of my sons are now starting their own families in Santa Barbara, California and Tokyo, Japan.
Currently, I am settled in Long Beach, with my loyal Cocker Spaniel and inquisitive Bengal. In the vibrancy of my historic neighborhood, in a 1912 Craftsman, I find true joy in the art of home. My life contains a tapestry of pursuits: cultivating the earth through gardening, galloping over the hills on horseback, traveling the globe, and sailing the same familiar coastal waters of my childhood. Through my travels and interests, I collect art and experiences, fully absorbing the beauty and culture around me. I bring all of this back with me to curate a home full of art, music, and love, sharing that vision with others through my work and collaborations.
Though my childhood home has long drifted into memory, its beautiful chaos remains etched in my soul—an indelible reminder of where I came from and the artist I continue to be
In summary my childhood home instilled values of creativity, resilience, connection, cultural appreciation, and nurturing. These elements play a crucial role in shaping my current perspective on life and work. My ethos in business ;curating lifestyles for my clients with thoughtfulness, depth and resililence
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating a career in real estate presents its own set of obstacles and challenges. The market can be unpredictable, and the pressure to meet client expectations is ever-present. However, the sensitivity, tenacity, and experiences gained from my life experienc equip me to handle these challenges effectively. My background has taught me the value of resilience and adaptability, allowing me to remain calm under pressure and find creative solutions in difficult situations.
We’ve been impressed with Victoria Posthuma Real Estate , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a native Californian with over 30 years in customer service and sales, and more than two decades devoted exclusively to real estate. I consider myself a lifestyle curator — not just a buyer and seller of homes — passionately matching properties to each client’s lifestyle, community preferences, and cultural values. My deep knowledge of Southern California’s historic architecture, coastal lifestyle, and relaxed culture allows me to pinpoint neighborhoods and properties that truly fit. I bring a highly ethical, assertive approach to every transaction, and my background in the arts informs creative, results-driven marketing that helps sellers stand out and buyers discover the perfect home.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Despite growing up in an artistic household, I initially resisted a career in the arts and instead discovered my passion for real estate. I have a love for both sailing and equestrian pursuits, traversing coastal waters and riding dressage horses evoke a sense or adventure in every journey I pursue in both those worlds.
I’ve traveled extensively, collecting art and experiences from around the globe, and will continue to as long as life affords me!
