Community Highlights: Meet Upasana Bir of Urban Nest & Nook

Today we’d like to introduce you to Upasana Bir.

Hi Upasana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey with Urban Nest & Nook began with my passion for beautiful homes, unique designs, and the belief that every home should tell a story.

I wanted to create a brand that offers something different from mass-produced home décor, focusing on individuality, quality, and timeless elegance.

At Urban Nest & Nook, our collections are designed in the USA and brought to life by skilled artisans in India. From cozy throws and embroidered cushion covers to handmade quilts, table linens, and wooden décor, each piece reflects thoughtful design and beautiful craftsmanship.

What started as a passion has grown into a small business connecting with customers through local artisan markets, community events, and our online store. Seeing customers appreciate our designs and return for more has been the most rewarding part of my journey.

My dream is to continue growing Urban Nest & Nook and eventually open a boutique where customers can experience our collections in person.

For me, this journey is about creativity, perseverance, and turning a dream into reality. After all, Home is where love blooms.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any small business journey, it hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I am truly grateful for every experience along the way. Building Urban Nest & Nook has been a journey filled with learning, patience, and growth.

One of the biggest challenges has been creating brand awareness, reaching the right customers, and managing everything from designing collections to production, shipping, and marketing.

Every day brings something new to learn.
Some markets have been wonderful successes, while others have taught me valuable lessons. Through it all, I feel incredibly fortunate for the love and encouragement I’ve received from my family, friends, local community, and customers.

I am especially thankful to everyone who has supported my small business, whether through a purchase, a kind word, or simply sharing my brand with others.

Every little gesture means so much.
I truly believe every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and I am grateful to be doing something I love.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Urban Nest & Nook is a boutique home décor and lifestyle brand built around the belief that beautiful homes should feel personal, warm, and inviting.

We specialize in thoughtfully designed home décor, including cozy throws, embroidered cushion covers, handmade quilts, elegant table runners, placemats, table linens, wooden platters, coasters, and unique lifestyle accessories.

What makes Urban Nest & Nook different is our approach to design and craftsmanship. Our collections are designed in the USA and brought to life by skilled artisans in India. We focus on beautiful textures, intricate details, quality materials, and distinctive designs rather than mass-produced trends. Our goal is to offer pieces that feel special, timeless, and full of character.

What I am most proud of is the personal connection I have built with my customers. Whether someone discovers us at a local artisan market or shops through our website, I want them to feel that every piece has been thoughtfully created and selected with care. Seeing customers return, share their experiences, and recommend our brand to others is incredibly rewarding.

As a growing small business, I am especially grateful for the support of our local Los Angeles and South Bay communities. Their encouragement has played a meaningful role in our journey.

I want readers to know that Urban Nest & Nook is about more than decorating a space. It’s about creating a home that reflects your personality and the things you love.

Our collections are available at www.urbannestnook.com, and we love connecting with customers at local pop-ups and community events.
At the heart of our brand is a simple philosophy: Home is where love blooms.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I believe building genuine relationships is one of the most valuable parts of entrepreneurship. Participating in local markets, connecting with fellow small business owners, and engaging with customers have helped me learn and grow. My advice is to stay open to learning, support other entrepreneurs, and surround yourself with people who encourage and inspire you. Sometimes the best mentorship comes from everyday conversations and shared experiences.
