Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian.

Hi Sebastian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in real estate started when I was a senior at Huntington Beach High School. After class one day, I walked across the street to the Coldwell Banker office, résumé in hand, and told the receptionist I wanted to be part of this world. That bold move led to a three-hour conversation with the branch manager—who would later become my mentor—and it opened the door to everything that followed.

Once I was licensed, I began selling homes throughout North Tustin, Irvine, and Newport Beach alongside his wife. I was hooked—the mix of people, design, and strategy fascinated me. But as the industry evolved and shows like Selling Sunset made real estate more popular, I started noticing how many of my peers were getting licensed. That got me thinking differently. Instead of seeing more agents as competition, I saw opportunity. These were people I already had relationships with—and they were all going to need a lender they could trust.

That realization brought me into the mortgage world. As the Relationship Director for a high-production team, I learned the inner workings of lending and saw how much impact a great loan experience could have. I fell in love with it. In April of 2022, Kai Youngman and I launched SRK Capital with one goal: to redefine how mortgages are done—through precision, communication, and genuine care for our clients and agent partners.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been far from a smooth road—but that’s what’s made it worthwhile. When Kai and I started SRK Capital, it was during one of the toughest moments the mortgage industry had seen in years. Interest rates were climbing at a historic pace—tripling, even quadrupling from record lows—and many teams were struggling to stay afloat. We went into it knowing exactly what we were walking into.

Starting in a challenging market forced us to build differently. It shaped us into the kind of team that thrives under pressure—one that can think strategically, pivot quickly, and deliver no matter what the market throws our way. That adaptability has become our greatest strength. In an industry where the landscape can change overnight, our ability to stay steady, innovative, and focused on execution is what keeps our clients and agent partners coming back.

As you know, we’re big fans of SRK Capital Inc.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
SRK Capital was built on three core principles: precision, speed, and service.
