Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Lashkari.
Hi Sara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
have always loved and been involved in fashion for as long as I can remember. From sketches of dresses as a young girl, to working in retail in high school, and discovering global fashions while living in South Korea and Italy, I knew this was the logical next step in my path. After moving to LA, I started working as a stylist on TV commercials, for celebrities, working with a member of Swedish House Mafia on Ibiza, and doing my own freelance work, I started a side gig as an influencer. From there, after people complimented me on my style and asking for advice, I thought- why not start my own store? It has always been in the back of my mind. Then, when my mom passed away in 2018, I knew I had to do something to keep me busy and make her proud. She knew this was my dream. After tons of tribulations and hurdles, (starting a business during a pandemic is NO JOKE!) it finally all came together. I knew I wanted to incorporate her into the store somehow, so I named it after her: Lily Love Boutique. Her name is Susanne, which from Farsi to English translates to “Lily.” I will make it my mission to make her proud in all that I do. I definitely got a lot of my love for fashion from her! She was the hardest working woman I’ve ever known, and I only hope to be half of what she was and will always be in my heart.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! Haha. There are ups and downs all the time. Business has also changed a LOT over the last 5 years. Things were actually really booming during the Pandemic. 2025 has been a very tough year so far and I know there is a lot going on in the world. Some months, it was a struggle to pay rent. Some items that people “had to have”? Well, when they arrived, it was crickets, LOL! Some pieces I selected turned out to be duds (hey, can’t win em all!) But everything is definitely a learning experience, as cliche as it sounds, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
