Community Highlights: Meet Olivia Reyes of Coventina Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Reyes.

Hi Olivia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My stepdad had started converting an old horse trailer into a coffee trailer with plans to run it as a side gig with my brother. But life got busy, and they decided to sell it. Around that same time, my fiancé and I had just moved back to LA from Portland, OR and we were in a strange season of transition at the time. Covid had just ended, I was feeling unfulfilled at my job, and something about the timing just felt right to dive into this new project. I’ve always had a deep love for coffee. Some of my fondest childhood memories are sitting around the kitchen table with my grandma at the head, sipping coffee, surrounded by laughter and the warm chaos of my family of 15. And that feeling, the comfort, connection, and joy was exactly what came to mind when I told my stepdad, “I’ll take it off your hands.” One year after buying the trailer, my fiancé and I officially opened at the Running Springs Farmers Market and it was an absolute dream. I had no prior barista experience (I once applied to Starbucks in college but never heard back—ha!). Luckily, my beautiful friends from Portland flew down to train me and help with the opening day. I didn’t know what to expect, so my fiancé and two friends were the only ones who knew about the big day. But he had secretly invited our loved ones, and to my surprise, everyone showed up! It was such a beautiful moment. What I thought would be a small, quiet launch turned into the most heartwarming celebration. The community embraced us right away, and we’ve been open Thursday through Sunday ever since. It’s now been a full year of Coventina Coffee and for the first time in my life, I truly understand what it means to feel passion for your work. This journey has been incredibly special. I’m endlessly grateful for my family, my partner, and the community who has supported us every step of the way. Whenever I reflect on how far we’ve come, I honestly can’t help but smile and give thanks to the universe.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I want to say yes it’s been a smooth road because honestly, it’s been such a fun and rewarding experience. Thankfully, I have a background in festival production, which has really helped bring my vision for Coventina Coffee to life in a way that feels true to me. And there’s a kind of peace I’ve found in the trailer. Brewing coffee, having meaningful conversations, and connecting with people who’ve become real friends has been something so surreal. Even though my fiancé and I are still figuring out how to balance our full-time jobs, our relationship, and Coventina, and of course we’ve had our fair share of challenges, it still feels like such a blessing. The tough moments somehow feel small in comparison and I think because it’s become such a passion, I try to be really intentional about not letting negative thoughts take over. It’s easy to spiral, but this journey has taught me that perspective really is everything.

We’ve been impressed with Coventina Coffee, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Olivia, and I’m the owner of Coventina Coffee, a mobile coffee trailer based in Running Springs, CA. While this is our home base, we love traveling to nearby mountain towns to pop up at local farmers markets and small businesses.
At Coventina, our goal is to create memorable experiences for every customer. We serve delicious espresso-based drinks with a big focus on connection and kindness. We genuinely love getting to know our community members and strive to create a space that feels warm, welcoming, and full of good energy.
We’re proud of our roots and culture, and you’ll find Latin-inspired drinks on our menu like horchata lattes and Mexican mochas made con mucho mucho, amor. hehe.
We’re also available for special events like birthdays, weddings, and private gatherings. Come visit us sometime! You can find our schedule on Instagram and Facebook. And while you’re up here, take in the charm of our beautiful mountain communities. We’re nestled right between Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead, and we’d love to serve you a cup!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I’d say it’s the overall experience people take away from our coffee trailer. As someone who truly loves coffee, my hope is that every customer enjoys that very first sip of Coventina Coffee and that it’s paired with a genuinely great experience. At the end of the day, it’s all about creating memorable moments for our customers and that’s really what means the most to us!
