Community Highlights: Meet Nikomi Menchaca of Mr. Moves Fast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikomi Menchaca.

Hi Nikomi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and I’m a mom of two. Life has always been about responsibility, staying grounded, and trying to do things the right way. Growing up here really taught me the value of hard work and looking out for the people around you.
The idea for Mr. Moves Fast actually started when my cousin Larry helped me with a move. He had years of experience as a mover, and I got to see firsthand what a really good moving experience could feel like. It was organized, smooth, and honestly the least stressful move I’d ever had. That stuck with me because it was so different from what most people expect when they’re moving.
We decided to co-found the company together. Larry brought all the hands-on experience, and I brought the customer perspective, especially as a mom who knows how important it is to feel taken care of during something as chaotic as a move. Together, we wanted to build a company that focused on both getting the job done efficiently and treating people with respect.
As we started taking on jobs, the feedback from customers really shaped us. People immediately noticed how we communicated, how carefully we handled their stuff, and how we approached every job. That encouragement helped us keep growing and improving.
Today, Mr. Moves Fast is about more than just moving boxes. It’s about giving people a better, less stressful experience during what can be a really tough time, and making sure they feel supported from start to finish.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. It’s definitely had its bumps, but those challenges have made us stronger and more intentional about how we do things.
One of the biggest early struggles was finding the right people to join the team. It was never just about who could lift the heaviest stuff. We needed movers who genuinely understood care, respect, and how to handle people’s belongings the right way. So we’ve always been really careful about who we bring on, focusing on character, work ethic, and mindset just as much as physical strength.
Another challenge was learning how to prepare properly before every job. In the beginning, we realized how important it is to ask the right questions upfront. Once we understand the details of a move, we can show up with the right crew, the right equipment, and enough time to do it well and efficiently. That preparation made a huge difference in the quality of our work.
As we grew, we also had to learn how to operate as a real team, making sure everyone was on the same page, communicated clearly, and took pride in what they did. It meant growing as leaders too: listening to our customers and our team, and making sure everyone had what they needed to do their best. Those lessons helped us become more organized and focused on delivering a smooth, reliable experience every time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mr. Moves Fast?
Mr. Moves Fast is a labor-based moving and home services company. We specialize in reliable, efficient, and respectful moving help for people who want a smooth, well-organized experience. Our main services are moving help, loading and unloading, furniture assembly, and other home services that make the whole process easier.
We also give customers a lot of flexibility. You can rent your own moving truck if you want to save money and have more control, and we’ll show up with the crew and all the equipment needed: dollies, straps, tools, whatever it takes to do the job right.
What we’re known for is the way we show up. We pay close attention to preparation and communication. Before every job, we ask the right questions so we arrive ready, with the proper crew, equipment, and a clear plan. That helps us stay efficient without cutting corners on care.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the moving industry is heading toward much higher customer expectations. People don’t just want someone to move their things anymore. They want clear communication, professionalism, and an overall smooth, positive experience. Companies that really focus on service and how they treat people are going to stand out.
Technology is also going to play a bigger role, especially in how people book, communicate, and stay updated during their move. Convenience and responsiveness are becoming more and more important.
At the same time, people are moving in more flexible and varied ways than before. That creates opportunities for companies that are adaptable and ready for different types of moves.
For us, that means we’ll keep doubling down on preparation, communication, and delivering a consistent, high-quality experience every single time. That’s where we see the industry going, and it’s exactly where we want to lead.
