Community Highlights: Meet Michelle Yehuda of Brainwashed LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Yehuda.

Hi Michelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career as an esthetician, and while performing facial consultations, clients would often share concerns about their scalp. It made me realize how little attention we’re taught to give scalp care growing up. It was always about the hair, never the foundation.

Those conversations planted the seed for Brainwashed LA. I decided to trust my instincts, leave my job, and create a space dedicated to intentional scalp care. I began by renting a room out of a hair salon in Sherman Oaks. When that salon eventually closed, I took it as a sign to keep moving forward and relocated Brainwashed LA to its current space.

Today, I’m deeply grateful to do work that feels aligned and purposeful, and to have built something from the ground up that I truly believe in.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was never a smooth road, and I didn’t expect it to be. Change is uncomfortable, and stepping into the unknown was one of the hardest parts of the process. Building something on my own and being fully responsible for bringing clients through the door was challenging, but it pushed me to show up and let people see who I am.

I put myself out there… Facebook groups, ClassPass, social media, and through word of mouth. Slowly, the bookings started to come. I don’t expect the journey to ever be easy, and I don’t want it to be. The challenges and obstacles are what make me stronger, teach me valuable lessons, and ultimately shape me into a better business owner and person

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Brainwashed LA is a boutique head spa built around scalp care. Treatments are designed to gently cleanse and rebalance the scalp while creating a calm, grounding experience that allows clients to fully unplug from everyday life.

What sets Brainwashed LA apart is a scalp-first mindset. Every service is thoughtfully customized, blending touch and care to support both scalp health and overall well-being. The experience is unhurried and personal, encouraging clients to slow down, disconnect, and simply be present.

At its core, Brainwashed LA is about mindful relaxation, simplicity, and redefining scalp care as an essential part of self-care.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Not necessarily apps or books, but what truly helps me do my best in life is the support system around me. I’m deeply grateful for my family, who have stood by me every step of the way and lifted me up during the moments I needed it most. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
