Today we’d like to introduce you to Larez Horsley.
Hi Larez, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started with a simple love for tennis, but it quickly became much more than a sport to me. Tennis taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of showing up for yourself even on difficult days. Over time, I realized that the court could also be a powerful place for connection and empowerment. I started helping others learn the game and saw how confidence began to grow in people who never thought they could play. That’s when I realized tennis could be a tool for building community.
As I continued growing personally and professionally, I wanted to strengthen my leadership and communication skills, which led me to Toastmasters. Joining Toastmasters was a turning point because it pushed me to find my voice and share my story with confidence. Speaking in front of others helped me become more comfortable leading, mentoring, and expressing the vision I had for helping people through sports and community programs.
Today, my passion is bringing those two worlds together. Through tennis, I focus on creating opportunities for women and underserved communities to experience not only the sport but also the confidence and sense of belonging that comes with it. Through leadership and communication, I work to inspire others to step into their potential and realize they are capable of more than they think.
My story is really about growth, learning to use my passions, my voice, and my experiences to uplift others. Whether it’s on the tennis court or speaking to a group, my mission is the same: to create spaces where people feel empowered, supported, and inspired to believe in themselves.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many journeys that involve building something meaningful, there have been challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles has been balancing multiple responsibilities while trying to grow both personally and professionally. There were times when resources were limited, opportunities didn’t come as easily as I hoped, and I had to stay patient and persistent.
Building programs and creating opportunities for others also comes with obstacles, especially when you’re trying to open doors for communities that may not always have access to those spaces. It takes time, resilience, and belief in your vision even when progress feels slow.
Another challenge has been pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. Whether it was stepping up as a leader, speaking in front of groups through Toastmasters, or taking on new professional goals, growth required me to face self-doubt and keep moving forward anyway.
But those struggles have also been some of the most valuable lessons. They taught me perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of staying focused on your purpose. Every challenge helped shape the person I am today and strengthened my commitment to helping others grow and find confidence in their own journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always someone who cared deeply about people and connection. Personality-wise, I would describe myself as curious, determined, and naturally supportive of others. I’ve always been the type of person who encourages people around me and looks for ways to help others feel included and confident.
I also had a strong sense of independence and motivation. I liked learning new things and challenging myself, even if it meant stepping outside of my comfort zone. Sports, especially tennis, became one of the ways I developed discipline, focus, and resilience. It taught me how to stay committed to improving and how to handle both wins and losses with perspective.
At the same time, I’ve always been interested in personal growth and leadership. I was drawn to environments where people could learn, communicate, and grow together. That curiosity about growth and community is something that has stayed with me into adulthood.
Looking back, many of the qualities I had growing up, being supportive, determined, and interested in helping people grow, are the same qualities that shape the work I do today through my business and community involvement.
