Community Highlights: Meet Hannah Gross

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Gross.

Hi Hannah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a fitness instructor in Los Angeles for about three and a half years now. I started out by becoming a teacher at the boutique studios I frequented (Lift Society and Carrie’s Pilates Plus). As a client, I fell in love with the workouts and how they made me feel. I also loved the instructors and the community each studio cultivated. At one point, it started getting quite expensive so I figured, hey, why not teach there myself and work out for free? Little did I know just how much I’d enjoy teaching and how fulfilling it is. The pandemic put–what I thought at first was–a wrench in my teaching as the world began to shut down and studios were closed. I realized just how much people yearned to find a sense of community, sanity, and some sort of stability, so I decided to teach virtually on Zoom. What started out as a few friends doing free classes here and there became a full booming business of private training and group classes. I took the plunge and created Sweat with Hannah and I never looked back. I had zero idea starting a business (in a pandemic and in my living room) was in the cards for me, but here we are and I’m extremely grateful and indebted to my clients.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not. I think the biggest hurdle that I still experience to this day is dealing with Imposter Syndrome. I find myself thinking, “I can’t believe people trust me to improve their health and pay me to show them how to work out. Who gave me permission?” I have to remind myself how far I’ve come, how hard I’ve worked, and how much I’ve learned to get to this point today, and I refuse to let doubt stop me from doing something I’m fully capable of doing and doing it well.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweat with Hannah?
SWH (Sweat with Hannah) is an online community of strong, ambitious women who are looking to find consistency and accountability through movement and to feel their strongest, best selves both mentally and physically. I offer a monthly subscription that includes 2x a week live workouts and an unlimited on-demand library to watch on-the-go or in the comfort of their own home. There’s also a group chat on Instagram to stay in the loop and foster a sense of community with a truly amazing group of people.

The workout is pilates-based with sculpting and strength training incorporated. It is a 45-minute full-body burn that leaves you feeling powerful and ready to take on the day. Live classes are Tuesday/Thursday at 8 AM Pst and if you can’t make the live you can get the class recording sent to you right after. Drop-ins are always welcome, and your first class is free (code: SWHFIRST). In addition to my virtual monthly subscription, I offer privates (virtually and in person), group privates or events (virtually and in person), and various online fitness challenges to hit the reset button and get you back into the habit of moving your body. Members have free access to every challenge.

I think what sets me apart from others is the community that I have cultivated. I feel strongly that my subscribers are individually and collectively incredible women. They say that I helped them through the pandemic and beyond, but they also have helped me and given me so much joy in tenfold. The results that they have shared with me are so amazing I could honestly get emotional thinking about it: One told me she dropped an entire pant size and feels confident in her skin for the first time in years. Another is so proud that she can lift her baby with ease from the strength in her upper body that she’s developed. One client shared that she has finally stuck to a fitness regimen for the first time in her life and has rid of chronic joint pain she’d experienced prior to class. Another was praised by her doctor for how much her health has improved.

I want to make it very clear to the readers that my number one goal here is not for you to lose weight. You are beautiful and strong and capable no matter what size you are. I am, however, here to push you, to hold you accountable, to show you just how strong your mind and body are, and to rid you of picking yourself apart in the mirror. There were points in my life that I really deeply hated my reflection, and when I realized that I was not alone and that I was able to overcome that, I knew I had to help others. It has become my mission.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My drive. When I go for something, I go all in.

I also think my genuine love for my clients keeps me motivated to continue improving and learning. I may be biased, but they really are the best.
