Community Highlights: Meet Joss Gomez of Magic Image Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joss Gomez.

How you got to where you are today, both personally and professionally.
Well, that is a good question, and it will take a long time to tell the whole story, maybe 2 or 3 movies lol.
It all started when I was a young Mexican boy in Mexico City, my mother owned a big entertainment company and as result of that I started being in commercials, novelas, movies, etc.  After that I went to Law school and moved to Texas, then I moved to Vegas and then to Hollywood!

In Hollywood I was doing the acting thing as everyone else in town, I was booking some gigs but nothing major, then I decided to create a magazine and put my face on it to promote myself as an actor, but 13 years later I haven’t been able to promote myself but I’ve been promoting everyone else, and now we are the 3rd best magazine in Hollywood.  I started writing and producing our own movies, because the reality is that nobody is going to call you to be the next big thing and even more being a minority in Hollywood.

Now I have produced and directed 4 movies and one TV series and working on start filming 2 other movies in a couple of months.

Personally, life is like an echocardiogram, you know the ups and downs are crazy! you never have a steady line/life is always good and bad, but I consider myself an accomplished person and happy of all the things and experiences I’ve had so far, but more excited of the future and I think the best is yet to come!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not a smooth road in any way. You know there are always challenges in your life, too many to mention, but a couple are: Being from another country and had to adapt and learn your way in a new country with the odds against you and also suffering a heart attack a few years ago due to too much stress and work, changing my whole life in a good way. As you know, we’re big fans of Magic Image Entertainment. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I wanted to start my own business because there is too much competition in what I do (acting) so it was really hard to get auditions and to book jobs, so I decided to launch my own magazine (Magic Image Hollywood Magazine) to promote myself to the key people in the industry and that is how my entertainment magazine started 12 years ago. Now we are the 3rd best magazine in Hollywood. We also have a production company and have produced 5 movies to date and have many projects coming this 2023.

How do you think about happiness?
Wow, that is a thought question to answer, I guess in order for you to be happy you need to have a challenge or a difficulty first, when you solve that complication or when you achieve the challenge, then you can be happy for a little bit because you can’t be happy all the time. I feel happy when I reach my goals, when Im with the people I love, when Im with my cat Chikitito, when I eat, when I don’t need to worry about money, etc.
