Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From Country Girls to Big City Women!
Starting from the dirt in Temecula, CA – “The Girls” Jessica & Valarie hit the ground running! With no lack of ambition, we continued to grow rapidly, despite constant challenges including gender discrimination, customers turned to stalkers, and the societal judgement placed on food workers. We continued to overcome the obstacles with a smile. But the more hardship we endured, the more support and love we received from the rest of the community!
Truly priding ourselves off of customer service and the empowerment of women everywhere, we grew a fanbase of absolutely sweet and loyal clients. Fast forward to April 2024, we decided we needed to think bigger. We needed to push ourselves out of comfort. So we moved to Pasadena, CA! We didnt know if the “big city folk” would even accept us at all, so we took a huge leap, asking, “do we move from our loyal small town to search for something bigger, or do we stay put and never know what could happen?”
But the city welcomed us with open arms! What was the “scariest” leap of faith for us, turned out to be a step in the right direction. We earned more business in just the first few months than we could have ever imagined!
For now, you can find “The Girls” every Sunday at The Porter Ranch Farmer’s Market! 9am-2pm at 20000 Rinaldi St, Porter Ranch, CA 91326
Watch us in action, as we make fresh kettle corn, hand dip caramel apples, and freshly fry our signature chicharrones on a weekly rotating menu! We will always pride oursleves off our hospitality, fresh & delicoius products, and most important, hard work.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Difficulties are inevitable! Although, most our obstacles seem to be optional – The treatment of women who are alone. With no man on duty – we have endured,
– The absolute belittlement of us as a business / as humans.
– Antagonizing from other business’.
– Customers calling our business line after hours as a means of “flirting”
– Hostile Interrogation concerning our LGBT lifestyle
– Retaliation after rejecting romantic offers
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
No matter where we go, we have that special “somethin'” about us.
Smiling faces and the sweet scent of fresh products are always at our kettle corn stand! We have over 21 popcorn flavors on a rotating menu to keep things new and exciting week after week! We also take the time to honor every culture with our signature & all natural Pork Rinds – from Mexico, to the philippines, and even the UK! We always accommodate your region’s preferred flavors. We even offer complimentary sides of “datu puti vinegar,” “valentina hot sauce,” and the juice of a lime for you to choose from. These are a perfect zero carb, high protein snack that all of our Keto/zero sugar customers can enjoy! As always, NO seedoils or preservatives. You cannot find these at the stores!
“The Girls” also love to share their musical talents as well! When you book us for an event / party you can always ask us to bring our guitars and other instruments. We love to liven up any event with music and great snacks! Our slogan, “Approved by Kids & Cowboys” has always rang true. We have served dozens of Elementary schools in Temecula, even getting the honor of “Two Thumbs Up” from school goers!
